Launching the first standards for accrediting health offices and strengthening quarantine units

Health offices and quarantine units are among the pillars of the health preventive system. The former is responsible for registering births and deaths, launching vaccination programs, monitoring infectious diseases, and issuing health certificates to citizens and state workers. The latter represents the first wall to repel cross-border epidemics.

Therefore, launching new standards for these health offices is a strategic step to regain control over prevention tools, unify work mechanisms, and raise the efficiency of services provided to citizens, thus enhancing the position of the Egyptian preventive sector at the regional and African levels.

From this standpoint,Earth Guards, in the following lines, sheds light on the latest efforts of the General Authority for Health Accreditation and Control (GAHAR), and addresses the news of its readiness to launch special standards for health offices, and measure the extent of its impact on the sustainability of the health sector in accordance with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs); So keep reading.

Dr. Ahmed Taha, “President of the General Authority for Health Accreditation and Control – Chahar,” chaired that founding meeting in the presence of the Deputy Minister of Health and Population for Preventive Medicine Affairs, Dr. Amr Kandil. In this meeting, discussions focused on preparing two basic documents: They are:

First-Standards for accreditation of health offices.

Other-Quarantine approval standards.

These health standards have been adopted based on international best practices and global health regulations, in addition to internationally recognized standards such as (ISQua – EEA).

Aimed goals

  • Install preventive and statistical data accurately and reliably.
  • Raising the quality of services provided to citizens during the registration, follow-up, and vaccination stages.
  • Enhancing the readiness of quarantine units, and activating them with specifications that contribute to rapid response to crises.
  • Consolidating the concept of accreditation as an indicator of quality and excellence for workers and preventive institutions.

The concept of prevention in the health system

It is clear that the word “prevention” is not only a precautionary measure, but rather a national strategy that expresses a comprehensive vision for transforming the health system from reaction to prevention and prediction. As the head of the General Authority for Health Accreditation and Supervision pointed out: “Prevention is a responsibility and a quality before it is a response,” in a clear indication that investing in prevention is an investment in the stability of a more sustainable nation.

The Deputy Minister of Health and Population for Preventive Medicine Affairs – Dr. Amr Kandil – pointed out that the preventive aspect is the first barrier to health problems, and that it requires an organized framework and executive controls that ensure implementation with the highest levels of efficiency.

Implementation and institutional integration stages

To strengthen quarantine efforts and support Egyptian health offices, the next stage will be based on the following executive steps:

  • Submit the draft proposed standards to the relevant department in the Authority for review and approval.
  • Training and qualifying health offices and quarantine units to apply these standards.
  • Launching awareness and information campaigns for employees and society about the role and importance of accreditation.
  • Institutional integration between the authority, the Ministry of Health, and related sectors; To activate the judicial and preventive role in parallel.

In conclusion, launching national standards to accredit health offices and quarantine units is not just an administrative procedure, but rather the nucleus of a qualitative transformation that enhances the strength of the preventive system in Egypt, and enables it to confront current and future health challenges with effective proactive action.
