Circular Economy Forum 2025: A platform for meeting minds and initiatives

Sustainable development efforts have been able to create new concepts to support the earth’s resources and develop its wealth. In this global event, experiences and ideas will be exchanged on how to integrate this model into global industries in accordance with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which the world seeks to achieve. Global conference in Brazil

The Global Circular Economy Forum is organized by the Finnish innovation foundation Sitra, in cooperation with local partners, such as the Federation of Industries of the State of São Paulo (FIESP-Federation of Industries of the State of São Paulo) and the Confederation of Brazilian National Industry (CNI). The forum will be held between May 13 and 16 in Ibirapuera Park; One of the most famous symbols of architectural modernity inLatin America, it is a distinguished site that includes two halls designed by the famous Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer, combining urban beauty and a renewed environmental vision.

In this ninth edition of the forum, it is expected that participants will focus on integrating the productive sector into discussions and dialogue sessions, while highlighting sustainable industrial practices, as well as emerging initiatives in the fields of recycling, green manufacturing, and circular supply chains.

It is worth mentioning here that this forum - the Global Circular Economy Forum - is a leading global event in the field of the circular economy, and provides a platform for exchanging knowledge and experiences, building partnerships, and advancing the transition to a sustainable circular economy. It has been performing this role since 2017, and has so far been hosted in Rwanda in Africa, Japan in Asia, Belgium, Finland and the Netherlands in Europe, and Canada in North America.

The choice of Brazil to host the Global Circular Economy Forum is an implicit recognition of the importance of Latin America in shaping the global green economy. It is a continent rich in natural resources, and at the same time it suffers from severe environmental challenges. Therefore, it is necessary for governments, specifically, to adopt incentive policies to encourage the transition to a circular economy, including tax exemptions and financing support in light of the development of concepts related to environmental and social governance. So that all peoples can create a sustainable future based on effective partnerships.

Circular economy on the frontline

When we look closely at the essence of the circular economy, we find that it does not aim to reduce waste or preserve resources only. It is a sustainable method that seeks to reformulate the economic and industrial systems by rethinking design, production, and consumption. In commitment to Goal No. (12) related to responsible production and consumption, as well as Goal No. (13) related to climate action, and Goal No. (9) related to industry, innovation and infrastructure.

What is interesting here is that the circular economy enables companies to achieve a competitive advantage by entering new markets based on environmental innovation, which was confirmed by the Citra Foundation in its annual report, which indicated that circular economy models may contribute to achieving global economic benefits estimated at trillions of dollars by the year 2030.
