Smart transportation and modern infrastructure… Egypt’s path to sustainable development

Smart transportation and modern infrastructure.. Egypt’s path to sustainable development
Amid a national atmosphere full of determination and ambition, the Egyptians Abroad Conference came in its sixth edition. To carry multiple messages, the most important of which is that the nation does not forget its children abroad, but rather considers them true partners in building the future. In this context, Lieutenant General Eng. Kamel Al-Wazir, Deputy Prime Minister of the Egyptian Council for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport, delivered a speech that contained within its lines a summary of the achievements achieved on the land of Egypt, and what the state aspires to achieve in the fields of industry and transport.
The Minister explained in his speech that Egypt is taking confident steps towards building a modern state, not only developing the infrastructure, but also placing the citizen at the heart of the development process. Integration between the state’s sectors, such as universities, new cities, and industrial zones, is only complete with a smart and sustainable transportation system that links geography with development, and ensures the sustainability of urban and industrial expansion.

The transportation sector has witnessed an unprecedented shift, as the road network and axes were developed, and sea and dry ports and logistical areas were established that facilitate the movement of trade and shorten distances to the future. To embody these achievements, a documentary film entitled “A New Path” was shown, which revealed the pumping of investments exceeding 2 trillion pounds into the transportation sector alone, which reflects the state’s vision to enhance economic and social sustainability through modern means of transportation.
Egyptian industry, a new vision and a new pulse
In light of the acceleration of international changes, the Egyptian state has moved towards enhancing investment in the industrial sector, as it is the engine of economic growth, and an effective tool for confronting unemployment and increasing exports. Lt. Gen. Kamel Al-Wazir has confirmed that what we are witnessing today represents a qualitative transformation led by His Excellency the President through the “urgent plan for the advancement of industry,” which is based on seven main axes that have created a major shift in the investment climate.
These topics included:
- Unification of entitiesIndustrial licensing.
- Reducing the periods for obtaining approvals.
- Providing tax and customs incentives.
- Launching a comprehensive digital platform to facilitate the establishment of factories.
These measures came to remove challenges facing investors, and open the way for effective participation by Egyptians abroad in this industrial boom that is taking shape on the ground.
Investing in human resources and industrial cities
The state did not neglect the importance of investing in human resources, as it worked to raise their efficiency in parallel with the development of industrial infrastructure. It also paid special attention to establishing specialized industrial cities, such as the Rubiki Leather City and the Margham Plastic Industries Complex, in addition to opening 16 industrial complexes in 15 governorates, as part of a strategy aimed at deepening local manufacturing, strengthening supply chains, and providing thousands of direct and indirect job opportunities.
These efforts have turned into tangible achievements. 5,773 new factories were operated, more than 230,000 job opportunities were created, and 987 faltering factories were restarted. The last phase also witnessed the allocation of thousands of industrial land plots, the issuance of hundreds of licenses, and an increase in the rate of exports by 9.9% during the first half of 2025.
Egyptians abroad are development partners
In an atmosphere characterized by clarity and appreciation, the Minister’s meeting with the people of Egypt abroad constituted a point of direct communication, in which he expressed his pride in their pivotal role in supporting the image of the nation globally, and in forming economic and cultural bridges that enhance the comprehensive development project. The meeting was not only a review of achievements, but also an occasion to consolidate the concept of partnership with those who carry their belonging to their country in their heart and mind, and possess the experience and vision that enhance the steps of progress.
Accordingly, inquiries from Egyptians abroad were rich and focused, as they addressed issues of industry, production complexes, and investment opportunities. The minister’s response was supported by realistic data and initiatives. He pointed to the state’s efforts to create an investment environment through financing programs in partnership with the Central Bank, and procedural facilities for establishing and operating factories. He also confirmed that the governorates now include ready-made industrial zones, and that the state is opening its doors to investors through direct communication mechanisms and periodic meetings that ensure follow-up and response, making Egyptians abroad an effective position in the industrial development process.

Egypt charts the course of tomorrow
In light of what was revealed during the conference, it is becoming clear day after day that Egypt is not only seeking to overcome challenges, but rather to build an integrated and sustainable development model that meets the aspirations of future generations, and is based on diversifying the economy, enhancing the role of industry, and developing transportation, in a way that ensures the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that the state has pledged to the international community.
What has been achieved in the transport and industry sectors during the last decade is the result of a strategic vision that raises the value of joint work and places people at the heart of the development equation. The citizen, whether inside or outside the country, is the focus and target, and he is the primary beneficiary of these projects.
In view of what was presented at the Egyptians Abroad Conference, the features of a profound development transformation are evident that are not based only on building infrastructure or launching huge projects, but rather on building an integrated vision that reformulates the relationship between the citizen and the state, between geography and development, and between the present and the future. The boom Egypt is witnessing in smart transportation and the modernization of industrial infrastructure is a practical application of the concept of sustainable development and Egypt’s Vision 2030.
So, the Egyptians Abroad Conference reveals a qualitative shift in the path of development in Egypt, a path based on building real partnerships with citizens at home and abroad, and a clear integration between infrastructure development and smart transportation, and the advancement of industry to be a locomotive for progress.
From this standpoint, theThe Earth Guards Foundation does not see what has been achieved as anything other than a practical translation of the goals of sustainability. It also confirms that every road that is built, and every factory that is established, should take into account the environment and social justice. Because Egypt is not only drawing development maps, but it is charting a path towards a more balanced future among members of society, and more aware of the right of future generations to a sustainable homeland.
