Social Solidarity strengthens protection and development paths during a week full of diverse activities

The Ministry of Social Solidarity is progressing steadily at the heart of the Egyptian development project, and in accordance with the axes of the national agenda “Egypt Vision 2030”, as a development actor working to build humanity, promotesocial justice, and link social protection to economic empowerment and investment in human capital.

In recent days, the Ministry’s actions – led by Dr. Maya Morsi – reflected this qualitative transformation, through parallel activities that included culture, early childhood, health, traditional crafts, civil work, and international cooperation, all in a model that reflects the integration of social policies with the principles of sustainability.

In this context, the following lines monitor the features of this diverse movement, and analyze its developmental implications, by reviewing the latest activities and most prominent initiatives in which the Ministry of Social Solidarity participated during the past few days, within a balanced framework that examines ways to achieve all Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs); So keep reading.

Book Fair Culture and Protection

First, the Ministry of Social Solidarity’s participation in the fifty-seventh session of the Cairo International Book Fair 2026 came to confirm that culture represents one of the non-traditional paths to enhancing community awareness of social protection issues.

Therefore, the Ministry was keen to provide an integrated wing that introduces social programs and translates them into an interactive experience targeting the family and all its components. The pavilion included a simplified introduction to services such as “Solidarity and Dignity,” the integrated services card, and alternative care models, in addition to awareness-raising activities for children to confront bullying and domestic violence, and interactive workshops for early childhood.

Spaces were also allocated for the elderly and people with disabilities, in a practical translation of the principle of “leaving no one behind,” which is one of the core principles of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially the first goal related to eradicating poverty, and the tenth goal concerned with reducing inequalities.

Investing in early childhood

Then the opening of the reception center for the children of workers at the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation – in the New Administrative Capital – reflected a strategic direction towards making the work environment family-friendly, and linking employment policies to the early childhood file. This is because the center, which was established according to the Japanese model, provides an integrated educational, health and psychological system, targeting the development of the child in his early years.

This step comes in direct alignment with the fourth goal of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) related to quality education, and the fifth goal regarding women’s empowerment, as the expansion of nurseries contributes to supporting working mothers and raising their economic participation, without prejudice to the child’s right to a safe and stimulating environment.

Partnership between Solidarity and Fatwa

On another level, the signing of the memorandum of understanding between the Ministry of Social Solidarity and the Egyptian Fatwa House represented a qualitative shift in employing religious discourse to serve sustainable development. The memorandum works to control charitable work, and seeks to transform it from a type of temporary aid to a sustainable path of empowerment, by linking fatwas to the quality of development projects and programmes.

Facilitating nursery licensing

As for the nursery file, the Ministry of Social Solidarity has moved from the stage of inventory and diagnosis to the stage of reforming the system. National data showed the scale of the challenge represented by thousands of unlicensed nurseries, which prompted the Ministry to coordinate with the Ministry of Housing to simplify licensing procedures, without prejudice to safety and quality standards.

This step reflects a deep understanding that early childhood is only a long-term investment in human capital. This requires flexible legislation, supportive infrastructure, and partnership between the government and civil society, in order to serve the sixteenth goal of effective and comprehensive institutions.

International Humanitarian Action

In the context of international cooperation, the meeting of Dr. Maya Morsi, “Minister of Social Solidarity” with the head of the International Committee of the Red Cross delegation, highlighted the position of the Egyptian Red Crescent as a pivotal partner in responding to regional humanitarian crises. This coordination reflects Egypt’s growing role in cross-border relief, whether in Gaza, Sudan, or other crisis hotspots.

Egyptian CooperationTurkish Cooperation in Social Protection

On an international level, the visit of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to Cairo, and his meeting with President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, formed a political umbrella that supported a number of sectoral partnerships, including the social protection file.

In this context, the Minister of Social Solidarity – Dr. Maya Morsi – and the Turkish Minister of Family and Social Services signed a memorandum of understanding in the field of social protection, in the presence and honor of Mr. President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, “President of the Arab Republic of Egypt,” and Mr. President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, “President of the Turkish Republic.”

DiyarnaAn applied model of cooperation

On the sidelines of this cooperation, the Minister of Social Solidarity and her Turkish counterpart inspected the activities of the “Dyarna Handicrafts and Heritage” exhibition, in a clear message that cooperation extends to supporting the social economy and the local product on the ground.

There, the Turkish Minister was briefed on the diversity of exhibits that reflect the richness of Egyptian heritage, from textiles, pottery, and copper artifacts, to Ramadan products, home decor, and leather works, as well as the broad participation of craftsmen from various governorates, including people with disabilities.

In conclusion,FoundationEarth Guards believes that this momentum in the actions of the Ministry of Social Solidarity reflects a structural shift in the Egyptian social protection philosophy, from an approach based on partial interventions to a comprehensive development approach based on prevention, empowerment, and investment in Human.

The diversity of the files that the Ministry dealt with in one week – from early childhood to culture, from health to humanitarian work, as well as Egyptian-Turkish cooperation – indicates an advanced awareness that sustainable development is built by integrating and interfering policies.

Hence, the Foundation emphasizes that the sustainability of this path requires strengthening institutional coordination, expanding community participation, and linking every social intervention to measurable impact indicators, ensuring that current efforts turn into long-term gains that support societal stability and enhance the state’s ability to face future challenges with confidence and flexibility.
