In the next few days, the world will celebrate “International Women’s Day,” which falls on March 8th every year, during which the United Nations, UNICEF, and the entire world seek to highlight the role of women in achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It is an international day that the peoples of the world use to support strategies for empowering women everywhere, which makes it one of the steps to enhance their rights – socially, economically and culturally – to ensure the implementation of the aspirations and hopes of all parts of society.
This year – 2024 – is the second year in a row, in which the Earth Guards participate in celebrating International Women’s Day, by highlighting the achievements of prominent Egyptian and Arab women and pioneers – scientifically and practically – in their fields; Therefore, in the coming days, the magazine will accompany you through a journey – a series of articles on International Women’s Day – expressing honorable feminist models whose professional career has shone in the skies of Egypt and the Arab world, and this is through achievements that have inspired women of the whole world. So that empowering them will be a just way of life and a form of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
As for the heroine of this article, she is Professor Naglaa Naseer, “Head of the Social Responsibility Sector at the companyTelecom Egypt”, who in 2020 won the award for the most powerful and influential female leader in the telecommunications sector locally and globally. Because of its contributions and efforts that are consistent with the concepts of sustainability, as it was the first to develop relevant strategies, such as the social responsibility strategy for Telecom Egypt.
In addition to the above, it has implemented national initiatives targeting technological transformation in basic and social services, especially in the most remote and needy areas, such as Halayeb, Shalatin, and North Sinai. In order to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and in line with “Egypt Vision 2030”.
Professor Najla Naseer began her professional career after obtaining a Master’s in Business Administration from the Naval Academy for Maritime Transport Science and Technology, and from there she rose to public positions, where she became a founding member of the Arab Network for Communication and Public Relations of the Arab Organization for Administrative Development, affiliated with the League of Arab States, and this was between 2019 – 2022.
Given her competence and skills in leadership and management, she was qualified to supervise the management and operation of 12 schools, and transform them into “WE” schools for applied technology, which is one of the most important national projects specialized in the field of technical education. With this project, Mrs. Najla Naseer was able to establish these schools with standard specifications that keep pace with the latest scientific findings in the field of educational infrastructure. Until the “WE” Schools of Applied Technology – Cairo Branch received the Center of Excellence Award, superior to all schools of applied technology.
These sustainable efforts made her worthy of winning the Arab Women’s Award for Social Responsibility from the Arab Council for Social Responsibility, affiliated with the League of Arab States, in the year 2021. She was also chosen among the list of the 50 most influential Egyptian women in Egyptian society and the world of finance and business, according to the research department at Smart Vision, in cooperation with the Egyptian Women’s Forum. In addition to being honored by Galala University, for being one of the most influential women in the field of social responsibility.
On the volunteer side, Professor Naglaa Naseer is clearly active in volunteer work, and this activity was the reason for the Egyptian Women’s Forum to award her the Egyptian Women’s Medal in 2019. She was among 30 Egyptian women who had a positive impact on Egyptian society. This is in addition to being awarded the Volunteer Work Pioneers Award for the year 2019, from the Voluntary Work Ambassadors Foundation for Sustainable Development and the United Nations Volunteer Programme. In appreciation of her effective participation in supporting volunteer work efforts.
The path of Professor Najla Naseer is a path that carries the meanings of giving and the best development efforts, as she was able to make the communications sector a promising opportunity to transform the present and future into sustainability. She was an inspiring achievement for the women of Egypt and the whole world.
