A symposium on energy security and sustainable development was held under the auspices of Earth Guards magazine

Sponsored byHamat al-Earth Magazine, the “Energy Security and Sustainable Development” symposium was held at the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology, in the presence of a number of academic and research figures, led by: Dr. Mohamed Al-Khayyat - President of the New and Renewable Energy Authority, Dr. Mahmoud Saqr - President of the Academy, Dr. Islam Abu Al-Majd - Head of the National Remote Sensing Authority, and Dr. Mohamed Al-Yamani - President of the Arab Council for Sustainable Energy, and Dr. Noha Donia - Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Environmental Research at Ain Shams University.

The symposium witnessed the presence of Dr. Reham Farouk - Chair of the Board of Directors of Earth Guards magazine, who exchanged discussions and conversations about the energy challenges that the world is currently facing, and how this affects the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The opening was with a speech by Dr. Ibrahim Hassan - Chairman of the Environmental Issues Committee, followed by a speech by Dr. Gina El-Feki, then a comment by the President of the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology. After that, the audience had an appointment with Dr. Muhammad Al-Khayyat, who gave a presentation explaining the role of renewable and clean energy in sustainable development.

After a short break, Dr. Islam Abu Al-Majd discussed the role of satellite images in determining the type of energy and its impact on the environment, followed by Dr. Muhammad Al-Yamani, whose talk was titled: “Energy security between ambitions and challenges.” In conclusion, Dr. Noha Donia discussed the topic: “Green universities and green hydrogen.”

The magazine’s sponsorship of this symposium comes in line with its efforts to raise awareness of the importance of the “energy transition.” This is in preparation for the climate summit in Dubai -COP28- where many people’s hopes will rest on this summit. To develop a binding agreement to phase out fossil fuels and switch to renewable and clean energy alternatives.
