In this context, the efforts made to modernize the livestock and poultry sector represent a practical model for translating Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into concrete policies and procedures that enhance production efficiency, support small breeders, and establish standards of sustainability and biosecurity, thus contributing to achieving comprehensive sustainable development.
Livestock Sector Achievements
In addition to the above, the Ministry of Agriculture, led by Mr. Alaa Farouk, Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, published a statement in which it reviewed a report on the achievements of the livestock and poultry sector during the year 2025, with regard to facilitating licensing and registration procedures for feed in accordance with biosecurity standards, while providing the necessary technical support to raise performance rates and encourage Egyptian exports in this sector.
For his part, Dr. Tariq Soliman, Head of the Livestock and Poultry Development Sector, said: Many activities and efforts have been witnessed by the sector during the year 2025, in light of the directives of Mr. Alaa Farouk, Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, and Engineer/ Mustafa Al-Sayyad, Deputy Minister of Agriculture, to overcome all obstacles while adhering to controls and standards.
Operating licenses for livestock activities
The Ministry of Agriculture statement indicated that during the year 2025, about 10,870 operating licenses were issued, between “renewal” and “first time,” for all livestock, fodder and poultry activities and projects and dairy collection centers, including 3,685 permits to practice livestock breeding activity for small breeders, while adhering to all security and biosecurity controls and requirements within and around those activities and projects, with the participation of the General Authority for Services. Veterinary.
It was also approved to register 8,247 registrations for feed mixtures, additives, and concentrates, including 5,395 local registrations and 2,852 imported registrations, in accordance with scientific standards, controls, and standard specifications, in partnership with the Regional Center for Food and Feed and the Animal Production Research Institute, in addition to issuing 610 technical approvals to establish new livestock and poultry projects in accordance with standards. And the requirements of the preventive dimension and biosecurity in the desert hinterland.
Providing technical support and conducting homogeneity experiments
Dr. Tariq Soliman indicated the continuation of providing technical support and conducting homogenization experiments, with the participation of the Regional Center for Food and Feed and the relevant agricultural directorates, on 497 feed factories across the governorates of the Republic, with 1,104 feed production line units, in preparation for issuing licenses to operate feed production conforming to standard specifications to achieve the highest performance rates.
The head of the Livestock and Poultry Development Sector added that it had been approved to disburse an amount of 1,060 billion pounds to 1,122 beneficiaries to raise and fatten 12,438 heads of livestock within the national veal project, bringing the total funding to approximately 10,053 billion pounds, from which nearly 45,100 thousand beneficiaries, including small breeders, young graduates, and women in the villages of His Excellency Mr. The President of the Republic "Hayat Karima" for the development of the Egyptian countryside, and the total heads of livestock within the initiative reached about 522,500 thousand heads of livestock.

Intense and sudden campaigns on feed stores and their raw materials
The Ministry of Agriculture stressed continued coordination with the competent and concerned regulatory authorities and launched intensive and surprise inspection campaigns on feed stores and their raw materials, as well as on the manufacture, circulation and export of feed at the level of all governorates of the Republic at the same time. During the year 2025, it launched more than 250 surprise campaigns in various governorates, as efforts resulted in the seizure of 187 tons of violating feed (expired or stored). monopoly), and violators were referred to the Public Prosecution to ensure market stability and quality.
Also, during the same year, it supervised the destruction and re-export of shipments in quantities of 550 tons of rejected feed additives that did not conform to the standard specifications on which they were imported, in coordination with the competent authorities, and their entry into the country was prohibited, in addition to approving the export of fish feed, feed additives, poultry products, and frozen poultry to some Arab and foreign countries.
A production boom witnessed in 2025
Soliman indicated that a production boom was witnessed in 2025, as the local production of red meat reached about 600 thousand tons compared to the year 2024, which was 555 thousand tons, an increase of 8%. As for poultry, the local production increased during the year 2025 from broiler chickens to about 1.6 billion birds compared to 1.4 billion birds in 2024, to In addition to the production of 16 billion eggs locally, while it reached 14 billion eggs during the year 2024, in addition to increasing the local production of local chickens, which reached 360 million birds during the year 2025, an increase of 12.5% over the year 2024, which recorded 320 million birds.
The Ministry of Agriculture’s efforts during 2025 to develop the livestock and poultry sector reflect tangible success in translating Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into practical reality, by improving productivity, supporting small breeders, and applying biosecurity standards and standards.
The Ministry also supported initiatives directed at financing young farmers, women, and small projects that contributed to promoting sustainable livelihoods and fighting poverty and hunger, ensuring a fair distribution of economic opportunities and achieving food security at the community level.
