We will be upon us in a few days “International Women’s Day”, this occasion that falls on the eighth of March every year, and which is celebrated by the United Nations and UNICEF, in addition to a large number of institutions and countries around the world, in order to highlight the effective role of women in sustainable development, and to support the empowerment of women and the promotion of their rights and protection in a way that ensures the fulfillment of the aspirations and hopes of half of the world. Society.
In this year’s celebration,Earth Guards participates by highlighting a group of the most prominent Egyptian female role models, who were able to go beyond the limits of societal expectations, to achieve many achievements on the scientific and practical levels. Therefore, we will take you on a short trip over the coming days to get to know these honorable models, in an effort by the magazine to inspire all women and support Empowering them and highlighting their role in achieving sustainable development. At the first stop of this journey, we stop at the achievements of Dr. Nevin Al-Qabbaj.
Dr. Nevin Al-KabbajShe began her professional and scientific life by working as a researcher at the Al-Ahram Center for Political and Strategic Studies. This was followed by a study trip to Canada, where she obtained a master’s degree in political science from Carleton University in Canada in 1992, after which she moved to work at the University of Ottawa in Canada in 1992. 1995.
After her return to the land of Kenana, in 2003, she worked as a strategic planning advisor at the National Council for Childhood and Motherhood. During her work at the Council, she prepared the national strategy and action plan entitled “Stop Violence against Children.”
In 2005, Al-Kabbaj served as Director of the Child Protection Program in UNICEF Egypt, and was then promoted to the position of Director of Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation – Public Policy in UNICEF Egypt.
In April 2015, I moved toMinistry of Social Solidarityto work as First Assistant to the Minister, and during this period I contributed to designing social policies to improve the lives of the poorest and neediest families.
She also contributed to the development and design of monitoring and evaluation systems for a large number of the Ministry’s programs, and Dr. Nevin Al-Qabbaj managed a number of important files, including the “Persons with Disabilities” file and the “Women” file, as they are among the groups covered by the social protection umbrella.
Her efforts were crowned in June 2018 by her selection as Deputy Minister of Social Solidarity, and after that she assumed the position of Minister to begin a new story of achievements in pursuit of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
