Historical relations between Egypt and India
Dr. Maya Morsi, “Minister of Social Solidarity,” received Mr. Suresh Reddy, “Indian Ambassador to Egypt,” in the presence of Professor/Dina Al-Sirafi, “Assistant Minister of Social Solidarity for International Cooperation, Relations, and International Agreements.”
In this meeting, the Minister welcomed the visit of the Indian Ambassador to the Ministry, praising the depth of the historical relations that bring together Cairo and New Delhi within the framework of the strategic partnership between the two friendly countries. The meeting dealt with enhancing ways of joint cooperation and consolidating bilateral relations in a number of work areas of mutual interest, especially in the files of economic empowerment and supporting productive families, which is a priority for the Ministry. Because of its vital role in preserving the authentic cultural and craft heritage.

Dr. Maya Morsi confirmed that the Ministry organizes exhibitions “Diyarna” to promote handmade products and heritage crafts. During the current year, more than 36 exhibitions were held, and work is underway to establish a permanent exhibition for “Diyarna” in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation. To be an integrated center that embraces the most prominent Egyptian products of an authentic nature.
In this context, Dr. Maya Morsi, “Minister of Social Solidarity,” indicated the possibility of cooperation with the Indian side in exchanging experiences, and opening new markets for Egyptian craft and handmade products within the Indian market.
On the other hand, the Minister of Social Solidarity reviewed the Ministry’s efforts in social protection programs, stressing the importance of the “Solidarity and Dignity” program, which is considered one of the largest conditional cash support programs in the Arab region, as this year – 2025 – has passed 10 years since its launch, and more than 7.7 million families have benefited from it since its inception.
Dr. Maya Morsi confirmed that 4.7 million families currently benefit from the program, and the Ministry – in cooperation with relevant ministries and bodies – is implementing the strategic financial system for economic empowerment, as part of the state’s direction to shift from traditional protection to more sustainable and comprehensive models.
For his part, the Indian ambassador praised Egyptian-Indian relations, expressing his aspiration to strengthen the bilateral partnership and open new horizons for cooperation, especially in the field of economic empowerment based on exploiting available environmental raw materials and heritage crafts.
Cooperation protocol to establish a Japanese school complex
Among the most prominent efforts of the Ministry of Social Solidarity in the past few days is the signing by Dr. Maya Morsi and Mr. Mohamed Abdel Latif, “Minister of Education and Technical Education,” of a cooperation protocol regarding the use of two buildings belonging to the Ministry of Social Solidarity in the areas of Al-Marg and the Zakat Foundation in Cairo Governorate, and the benefit of a 15-acre plot of land; In order to establish a Japanese school complex, to be established and managed by the Ministry of Education.
The Minister of Social Solidarity expressed her appreciation for this cooperation, noting that the establishment of this educational complex will contribute to reducing student densities and providing an advanced educational environment. She stressed that the Ministry follows the principle of investment in human capital, reviewing the close cooperation between social solidarity and education, as the current year witnessed the launch of studies in a number of family and childhood development centers in the villages of “A Decent Life.” In order to provide educational, psychological and social services to children.
For his part, the Minister of Education praised the importance of the protocol, stressing that the project reflects integration between state institutions, and will contribute to the development of educational services in the region, noting the Ministry’s keenness to prepare the complex before the beginning of the next academic year.

Social Solidarity Investment Plan 2025/2026
Dr. Maya Morsi also discussed with Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, “Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation,” the position of the Ministry’s investment plan for the year 2025/2026, within the framework ofthe national narrative for economic development.
Hence, Dr. Rania Al-Mashat confirmed that the investments approved for social solidarity in the new fiscal year amounted to 768.5 million pounds, an increase of 75.5% over the previous year. She explained that the priorities focus on completing projects with high implementation rates, financing new priority projects, as well as integrating the ministry’s strategy into the national narrative of economic development.
For her part, the Minister of Social Solidarity praised the efforts of the Ministry of Planning, stressing that the strategic financial system for economic empowerment aims to move from traditional protection to more comprehensive and sustainable systems, by integrating beneficiary families into an economic system that includes financing, insurance, saving and employment.

Launching the Fund to Support NGO Projects
Earlier this week, the Minister of Social Solidarity announced the launch of a fund to support projects of associations and civil society institutions, and the launch of the activities of the fund’s first annual conference in the presence of ministers and international officials, where the minister confirmed that the fund represents a new chapter in the history of the partnership between the state and civil society, under the slogan “A supportive and enabling environment for civil society institutions.”

The Minister stressed that the Fund establishes a general policy that redefines the role of civil society as an authentic partner in development, based on transparency, governance, and public accountability. She explained that the Fund’s work is based on the principle of results-based financing and linking disbursement to agreed-upon performance indicators, while adopting an advanced electronic system for follow-up and evaluation.
Meeting of the Standing Committee for Women Social Pioneers
The Minister of Social Solidarity also chaired the meeting of the permanent committee to supervise the work system of women social pioneers. In order to follow up on the progress made in implementing previous plans and recommendations. The Minister praised the field efforts of social pioneers in raising awareness and direct communication with citizens, stressing that they represent an essential link in the success of community initiatives, such as inventorying national nurseries using modern technology.

Report on nursing homes
The Minister of Social Solidarity received a report from the Central Administration of Social Welfare on efforts to support and care for the elderly on the occasion ofInternational Day of Older Persons. The report explained that the nursing homes database was updated to include 176 homes in 22 governorates that provide services to about 4,469 elderly men and women, in addition to organizing about 190 field visits during the year to enhance oversight and quality of services.
