As for the heroine of this article, she is Professor Lamis Ali Negm, “Advisor to the Governor of the Central Bank of Egypt for Social Responsibility – previously,” who has more than 35 years of experience in the banking sector in Egypt and the Middle East.
She is the daughter of the late Ali Negm, the former Governor of the Central Bank of Egypt, and in this banking family, Ms. Lamis Ali Negm began her career after graduating from Ain Shams University, after which she joined BCCI Bank, and from there to Citi Bank – Cairo Branch in 1993, and there she rose through the ranks until she became Vice President for Government Relations.
This is how Ms. Lamees Ali Najm, the distinguished banker, excelled in the field of banks and financial institutions, where she achieved historic achievements. She was the first woman to be appointed to the Board of Directors of the Misr Central Clearing, Deposit and Registration Company (MCDR). In 2021, she became a member of the Sustainable Development Committee of the Egyptian Stock Exchange. In December of the same year, she joined the Board of Directors of the Center for Public Service and Social Development at Ain Shams University. And other positions and contributions to the boards of directors of regional banks and institutions.
These banking successes are only one of the bright aspects of Ms. Lamees Ali Najm’s career. Because she has outstanding community achievements, she is a member of many community institutions, including – for example – the Enactus Foundation, the Injaz Misr Foundation, the People of Egypt Foundation, and the Development and Development Association. Mrs. Lamees Ali Najm also has many contributions to development programs, such as the “Future Pioneers” program and the “Female Mentoring” program, which aims to enhance women’s professional path.
Hence, Ms. Lamees Ali Najm deserved medals of honor and certificates of appreciation. Because of her banking efforts and the societal achievements she achieved, she was chosen among the list of “50 Most Influential Women in the Egyptian Economy” in 2015, and then she received the “Nevin Lotfy” Award in 2017, as one of the best banking figures.
She was also awarded the Egyptian Women’s Necklace during the Egyptian Women’s Forum in 2020, which is the highest honor for Egyptian women in all fields of humanity, working life, and societal responsibility. Regarding her societal achievements – specifically – she was honored on the list of “The Top 50 Inspiring and Influential Women in Egyptian Society” in 2020, by Smart Vision Company.
