Maya Morsi..Unique model

In the next few days, the world will celebrate “International Women’s Day,” which falls on March 8th every year, during which the United Nations, UNICEF, and the entire world seek to highlight the role of women in achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It is an international day that the peoples of the world use to support strategies for empowering women everywhere, which makes it one of the steps to strengthen their rights – socially, economically and culturally – to ensure the implementation of the aspirations and hopes of all parts of society.

This year – 2024 – is the second year in a row, in which the Earth Guards participate in the celebration of International Women’s Day, by highlighting the achievements of prominent Egyptian and Arab women and pioneers – scientifically and practically – in their fields; Therefore, in the coming days, the magazine will accompany you through a journey – a series of articles on International Women’s Day – expressing honorable feminist models whose professional career has shone in the skies of Egypt and the Arab world, and this is through achievements that have inspired women of the whole world. So that empowering them will be a just way of life and a form of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

As for the heroine of this article, she is Dr. Maya Morsi, the youngest woman to hold the position of “President of the National Council for Women”, and she began her career with a bachelor’s degree in political science; In 1995, she opened a window into the field of media and journalism. After obtaining master’s degrees in business administration and public administration from the University of Seattle, USA; She rose through the ranks of the United Nations, as head of the regional work team on women’s empowerment programs and policies at the Regional Center for Arab States, affiliated with the United Nations Development Programme, during the period between 2013 and 2016.

With these professional skills and experiences, she was able to implement strategic partnerships with the League of Arab States, the European Union, as well as the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the African Union, and other regional and international institutions.

We will not forget the role of the President of the National Council for Women in the academic field, as Dr. Maya Morsi taught students in the Department of Public Administration and Communication in the joint university program between Seattle City University and the Arab Academy for Science and Technology, affiliated with the League of Arab States.

Hence, Dr. Maya Morsy deserved many honors and awards. She received – by representation but not exclusively – the “Woman of the Decade in Empowerment and Public Life” award in 2018. She was also among the “50 Most Influential Women in Egypt” in 2016. The First Lady of Egypt also honored her in 2020; All of this was a reflection of what it achieved in the field of public work, and what it provided to Egypt in the field of management and strengthening strategic partnerships.

In these last days, Dr. Maya Morsi participated in the activities of launching the “Fetal Health” initiative; To preserve the fetuses free from chronic diseases, and to ensure new generations free from disease, which reflects its constant efforts in everything related to women and girls; In line with Egypt Vision 2030.

Dr. Maya Morsi also seeks to establish a technical school for girls in Egypt, with Egyptian-Italian cooperation, and also with private sector companies. These endeavors are part of the work of the Women’s Skills Development Center, affiliated with the National Council for Women. In addition to her efforts in launching the “Noura” program, which aims to empower girls and develop their health, social, and economic skills.

The above is only part of the achievements and efforts through which Dr. Maya Morsi – President of the National Council for Women – was able to make women and girls a development topic and a strategic goal, in order to achieve the goals ofSustainable development; To be a unique model and role model among the women of Egypt, the Arab world, and the entire world.
