Earth Guards Shield for Sustaining the Health Sector and Strengthening Hospitals in Egypt

There is no doubt that the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are closely linked to the sustainability of the health sector, as human life and dignity must be preserved. This is why national efforts in Egypt are accelerating to integrate sustainability standards into the health sector, ensuring the provision of safe and fair medical services. In this context,The Earth Guards Foundation announced its readiness to launch the “Earth Guards Shield for the Sustainability of the Health Sector” competition.

This came in a meeting between Dr. Muhammad Zeyada, “Chairman of the Board of Trustees ofHomat Al-Earth Foundation” and Dr. Ahmed Al-Sabki, “Chairman of the Board of Directors of the General Authority for Health Care”; In order to discuss ways of joint cooperation, including cooperation to launch the “Earth Guards Shield for Health Sector Sustainability” competition, which is scheduled to be launched during the Authority’s annual meeting next November.

Public health is the foundation

There, Dr. Muhammad Zeyada, “Chairman of the Board of Trustees of theThe Earth Guards Foundation,” explained that the “Earth Guards Shield for Health Sector Sustainability” competition aims to enhance public health by transforming the seventeen Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into clear indicators and measurable standards, directly related to the Egyptian health sector. In a related context, Dr. Muhammad Zeyada added, saying: “We aspire to promote justice and comprehensiveness in health care, while developing training programs to empower cadres,” noting that the “Earth Guards Shield for Health Sector Sustainability” competition focuses in its environmental dimension on managing medical and hazardous waste, operating green systems, relying on renewable energy, activating sustainable transportation, andmanagement Waste and water sustainable management.

  • Establishing a culture of self-evaluation.
  • Compliance with environmental legislation.
  • Supporting investment in sustainable institutions.
  • Providing a competitive environment that enhances institutional excellence.

The health sector with national efforts

Regarding this strategic cooperation, Dr. Ahmed Al-Sabki, Chairman of the General Authority for Health Care, stated that the competition targets all hospitals whose capacity exceeds 40 beds in various sectors. Motivated to integrate sustainability standards into their daily practices. He pointed out that the jury will include local and international experts to ensure transparency, and that the competition will be held under the auspices of the Ministries of Health, Local Development, Social Solidarity and Education, stressing that the Authority’s experience and its obtaining the Gold Award from the International Hospital Federation for the year 2024 reflects the leadership of the Egyptian health experience.
