The celebration witnessed the presentation of a recorded speech by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, in which he affirmed that Africa stands on the threshold of a new phase of construction and development, based on the capabilities and resources it possesses, in addition to the will of its peoples to achieve the maximum benefit from its wealth.

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi also stressed the continuation of the Egyptian role, based on the fact that Egypt is a supportive partner in the development process in all African countries, and this is through exchanging experiences, implementing development projects, and enhancing cooperation with international partners in accordance with the common interests and priorities of the peoples of the continent.

In extension of what His Excellency the President affirmed, the Africa Day celebration included a visual presentation on the development of Egyptian-African relations in recent years, and the expansion it has witnessed in the areas of political, economic, and development cooperation, in addition to highlighting the role of Cairo University in hosting African students, and supporting education and capacity-building programs.

On the other hand, Dr. Badr Abdel Aty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptians Abroad, stressed that the celebration of Africa Day reflects the depth of the historical ties that bring together Egypt and the countries of the continent, pointing out that Egyptian policy is based on linking peace, security and sustainable development, while supporting capacity building and transferring Egyptian expertise to African countries, all in line with the “Africa Agenda 2063.”

Then the Minister of Foreign Affairs referred to a number of models that reflect the development of Egyptian-African cooperation, most notably the “Julius Nyerere Dam” project in Tanzania, which was a model of cooperation between countries of the South, in addition to the important continental events hosted by Egypt, including the “Africa Forum – El Alamein”, and the preparation to organize the sixth edition of the Aswan Forum for Sustainable Peace and Development, in a way that strengthens Cairo’s position as a regional center for African dialogue and action.
