The National Initiative for Smart Green Projects in partnership with Nile University

The administration ofThe National Initiative for Smart Green Projects continues to strengthen its steps related to sustainable development and environmental preservation, by establishing partnerships between it and civil society institutions, which was confirmed by Ambassador Hisham Badr – General Coordinator and Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Initiative – inhis statements to Hama Magazine Earth; In an effort to achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and combat climate change.

The National Initiative for Smart Green Projects is a national initiative affiliated with the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, after it was proposed by Dr. Mahmoud Mohieldin – the climate pioneer – and at that time it was sponsored by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. The Prime Minister issued Resolution No. (2738) of 2022, establishing its subcommittees headed by national experts.

Regarding this, Dr. Wael Akl, “President of the Nile National University,” received Ambassador Hisham Badr; Desiring to discuss ways of cooperation between the National Initiative for Smart Green Projects and the University; This is because Nile University has a vital role in implementing a number of smart green projects.

As a result of this partnership, the two sides launched a new initiative; In order to achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), increase awareness of the dangers of climate change, and combat environmental degradation that will affect the entire world; Therefore, Ambassador Hisham Badr and Dr. Wael Akl agreed to define the general framework of the new initiative, crystallize its objectives, and confirm its implementation plan.

For his part, Akl expressed his welcome to this green partnership between Nile University and the National Initiative for Smart Green Projects, as it is a partnership that confirms Egypt’s pioneering role in the fields of development and climate. Pointing out that it is a green partnership that will highlight the development efforts implemented by the university.

Hence, Dr. Wael Akl explained the role of Nile University in supporting “Egypt’s Vision 2030,” especially the community assistance it provided during the twenty-seventh climate conference, which Egypt hosted in Sharm El-Sheikh, last year.

Aql continued, saying: “At COP27, the university won several awards, including: award for the ‘Africa Grows Green’ initiative, which targets the manufacturing of environmentally friendly dishes and other food preservation containers, in which sugar cane waste is used in their manufacture. As well as the Africa Grows Green Initiative Award for Addressing Climate Change – Climate Research, Innovation and Entrepreneurship category; This is an initiative that came on the sidelines of the initiative: African Women’s Day.”

The university president added: “Some of the university’s students won a number of research awards, including: Dr. Irene Sami Fahim, “Director of the Smart Engineering Systems Research Center at the university,” where she won the best scientific research award in the field of sustainability.”

It is worth noting that the National Initiative for Smart Green Projects has seen Nile University as a partner capable of achieving the goals of the initiative. Because the university contributed – and is still contributing – to green projects in “COP27”, in addition to implementing pioneering projects represented – for example – in the “Nile Pioneers” initiative. In service of the green economy and in support of the national product.

In conclusion, Earth Guards notes the effective results of this partnership – and other partnerships – in the field of supporting sustainable development and achieving its goals. These green partnerships also have a pivotal role in enhancing the Egyptian view of the continent of Africa, and even its climate view of the entire world, and this is what “Egypt Vision 2030” seeks; For a green, disease-free world.
