Tamer Amin praises the Earth Guards Shield Competition at his first ceremony
At a ceremony attended by Dr. Nevin Al-Kabbaj “Minister of Social Solidarity”, and Counselor Ahmed Saad El-Din “First Deputy of the House of Representatives”, and a number of heads of subcommittees in the House, artists, media figures, and men and women of society – the prominent journalist –Tamer delivered a speech. Tamer Amin’s speech was his participation in the first ceremony – which was held at the Four Seasons Hotel in Cairo – for the “Earth Guards Shield” competition, which was launched by “Earth Guards” magazine, sponsored by the Ministry of Social Solidarity. There, Amin addressed the challenges and problems facing work in the fields of climate and development, as they are two fields that contain specialized terminology that need to be explained and simplified.
Hence, Tamer Amin called in his speech to use simple words when addressing the public with these important issues, not only in Egypt, but in the entire world. He also stressed that education has an important role in addressing this problem, drawing attention to the fact that people have different minds and different levels of understanding and awareness. Therefore, we must formulate such issues in a correct manner that the recipient can understand.
Regarding this correct formulation, the presenter of the program “End of the Day” saw that the closest language in addressing environmental issues and working to achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) is found in the media, as it has a simple method in educating people and addressing their hearts and minds.
In this context, Tamer Amin praised the most famous series among the awareness series and programs produced by “Earth Guards” magazine since its inception, which is the series “What doesmean?” It is worth noting that this series consists of simplified introductory visual episodes, no more than thirty seconds long, in which environmental and scientific concepts that are frequently heard by non-specialized people are simplified, such as: sustainable development, waste recycling, global warming, and other concepts.
After that, Tamer Amin spoke about the fact that there is a wide gap between people’s awareness of these pressing issues and the seriousness of the situation in reality, noting that some people consider them issues such as societal luxury. Here, Amin praised the speech of Dr. Nevin Al-Kabbaj – Minister of Social Solidarity – in which she addressed some serious indicators related to climate change, the effects of global warming, and the problems of relying onafossil fuels; Confirming after this that the Earth is threatened with destruction, and that man faces possible extinction in the future of the deteriorating planet Earth.
Not only that, but the prominent journalist – Tamer Amin – saw how the government sector – along with the private sector – is responsible for addressing these issues, as well as individuals who must perform their educational role with their children. Calling for holding oneself accountable, and providing a statement of account and evaluation that crystallizes our view of this societal responsibility.
On the other hand, the curator did not forget the artists and their pivotal role in directing their followers towards the importance of issues of sustainability and environmental preservation, as he alluded to some irresponsible behaviors that artists must replace with more sustainable behaviors, capable of conveying a message that reflects the role of true art.
