In a side event entitled: “Dissemination of local voluntary reports to accelerate the 2030 Agenda and localize Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs),” Dr. Ahmed Kamali, “Deputy Minister of Planning and Economic Development,” moderated a discussion session during the activities of the “High-Level Political Forum in New York,” held from July 10 to 19, as he explained that it is a session that contributes significantly to the exchange of ideas and experiences that help implement “Egypt Vision 2030“, with particular attention to the localization of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
This was organized by the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, with the participation and cooperation of the Permanent Missions of the Federal Republic of Brazil, as well as with the participation of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the United Nations Human Settlements Programme, the United Nations Development Programme, and the European Committee of the Regions (European Union).
At the head of the audience was Dr.Hala Al-Saeed “Minister of Planning and Economic Development”, and in the presence of: Ambassador Muhammad Amir Khan “Deputy Permanent Representative of Pakistan to the United Nations”, Maimuna Muhammad “Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations and Executive Director of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme-Habitat”, and Ambassador “Antonio Francisco” “Special Advisor for International Relations to the Minister of Cities of Brazil,” “Abdullah Al-Dardari” “Assistant Secretary-General and Director of the Regional Office for Arab States at the United Nations Development Programme,” “Fernandez Barassa” “Governor of Kakamega County in Kenya,” and “Ricardo Rio” “Mayor of the Portuguese city of Braga, and member of the European Union Commission.”

In this context, Kamali’s speech included a comprehensive discussion of the reasons for the development progress witnessed by many global regions, noting that the first reason for this remarkable progress is the adoption of the “2030 Plan” in 2015, and stressing the need for the international community to fulfill its obligations towards sustainable development issues, the most important of which are eradicating poverty and reducing the effects of inequality in all societies, while sharing successful experiences and experiences in this field, and protecting the global environment, to Aspect of strengthening joint climate action.
Regarding the Egyptian government’s strategy in achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the Deputy Minister of Planning and Economic Development explained that the government is taking great strides; To implement these goals – the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) – by the year 2030. With a clear indication, Dr. Ahmed Kamali confirmed that Egypt has launched purposeful development initiatives, and here he noted the “Decent Life” initiative, as an important initiative in this development field, and that it is one of many initiatives on the way to achieving the seventeen Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
At the end of his speech, Dr. Ahmed Kamali, Deputy Minister of Planning and Economic Development, referred to the Egyptian experience and its success in localizing Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) locally and regionally, and Egypt’s role in preparing to issue three voluntary local reports (VLRs) for the first time, as reports that help empower local communities. In order to become a catalyst and supporter for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
