Jahar accredits 19 health facilities to enhance health care services in accordance with the highest international standards

The Egyptian state is moving with rapid and rapid steps towards consolidating the concept of actual quality within the health system, as it is a decisive criterion for patient safety and service efficiency. In this context, health accreditation stands out as a practical tool for controlling performance, raising the efficiency of facilities, and ensuring the provision of health services consistent with the best international standards, which contributes to strengthening strong institutions, supporting justice in access to services, and promoting social peace by ensuring citizens’ health rights, as well as activating local and international partnerships to achieveComprehensive Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The decisions of the General Authority for Health Accreditation and Supervision to grant and renew accreditation to a number of health facilities confirm that the application of quality standards has become a sustainable path that includes various levels of care, from hospitals to family medicine units, which reflects a real shift towards a more disciplined, efficient and fair health system, and also ensures the achievement of good health and well-being for current and future generations.

The Supreme Accreditation Committee expands the scope of accredited facilities

From this standpoint, the General Authority for Health Accreditation and Supervision, headed by Dr. Ahmed Taha, announced new accreditation decisions by the Higher Accreditation Committee, which included granting full or initial accreditation or renewing accreditation to (19) health facilities from various sectors, in accordance with the “Jahar” standards internationally approved by the International Society for Healthcare Quality (ESCWA).

The authority confirmed that these decisions come within the framework of supporting the state’s direction towards raising the quality of health care services, enhancing citizens’ confidence in the care system, and ensuring the provision of safe and effective services that are consistent with international best practices.

In this context, “Ahmed Galal Military Hospital in Cairo”, affiliated with the Armed Forces Medical Services Department, succeeded in obtaining a full accreditation certificate in accordance with “Jahar” standards, and this came after meeting the requirements of a comprehensive evaluation, which reflects the hospital’s firm commitment to applying quality and patient safety systems according to a sustainable institutional methodology.

Renewal of accreditation for (9) family medicine units

The decisions also included granting full or initial accreditation or renewing accreditation to (9) family medicine units and centres, reflecting the growing interest in developing primary health care services as the cornerstone of a modern health system based on prevention, early detection and improving the quality of life.

In this context, (4) family medicine units obtained full accreditation, which are:

  • Radisiyah Family Medicine Unit in Aswan
  • Slave Family Medicine Unit in Aswan
  • Jaafar Al-Sadiq Family Medicine Unit in Aswan
  • Naga Wenis Family Medicine Unit in Aswan

Also (3) other family medicine units obtained initial accreditation, namely:

  • Family Medicine Unit in Menoufia
  • Kharit Family Medicine Unit in Aswan
  • Mansouria Bahri Family Medicine Unit in Aswan

The accreditation was also renewed for two facilities in Luxor Governorate:

  • Riot Family Medicine Unit
  • Awamiya Family Medicine Center

Primary health care is the focus of the comprehensive health insurance system

Dr. Ahmed Taha, Chairman of the General Authority for Health Accreditation and Control, confirmed that primary health care accredited according to the highest quality standards represents the most influential pillar in reducing the burden of chronic diseases, enhancing the concept of prevention, and achieving optimal use of resources, in a way that supports accelerating the implementation of the comprehensive health insurance system.

Adding that the Egyptian state places primary health care at the top of its priorities as it is the most sustainable path to building a strong and fair health system, noting that the development of infrastructure, qualification of cadres, and improvement of operating systems witnessed by this sector ensures access to safe health service to every citizen, in every village and city, and establishes an inherent right to a dignified, healthy life.

In conclusion, the decisions of the General Authority for Health Accreditation and Oversight reflect a practical step towards consolidating the quality of health care in Egypt, in line with the comprehensive Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially related to achieving good health and well-being, achieving peace and justice, and enhancing the efficiency of institutions, through accrediting and renewing the accreditation of 19 health facilities at different levels of care, from hospitals and family medicine units to private facilities.
