In this context, the New Administrative Capital witnessed a meeting between Dr. Ahmed Taha, “President of the General Authority for Health Accreditation and Control” (Jahar), and Dr. Abdel Aziz Qanswa, “Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research.” In order to discuss mechanisms for accelerating the accreditation of university health facilities in accordance with internationally approved national standards.

During the meeting, the head of the General Authority for Health Accreditation and Control confirmed that accrediting university facilities is a strategic step to raise the efficiency of institutional performance and ensure adherence to quality and patient safety standards, thus enhancing their readiness for effective integration within the comprehensive health insurance system.

Then Dr. Ahmed Taha explained that 20 university facilities distributed over 11 governorates have already obtained total or initial accreditation, and they include 15 university hospitals, in addition to two specialized medical centers, two laboratories, and a primary care unit.

This achievement reflects a qualitative expansion in the application of quality standards issued by the Authority, and recognized by the International Organization for Accreditation of Healthcare Institutions (ISQua). What gives the Egyptian health system an international dimension in evaluation and accreditation standards.

This development gains additional importance in light of the directives issued by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi regarding the necessity of upgrading university hospitals in terms of them being a basic pillar of specialized therapeutic services. The meeting also discussed developing an expanded coordination framework between the Authority and the Ministry of Higher Education, which includes preparing a comprehensive cooperation protocol with the Supreme Council of University Hospitals, and focuses on specialized training programs, providing technical support, and reviewing architectural designs for new and existing facilities. For his part, the Minister of Higher Education affirmed the Ministry’s commitment to supporting the accreditation process and accelerating its pace, noting that a large number of university facilities are close to meeting accreditation requirements.
