CEMEX Member of the Executive Board of the National Strategy for Higher Education

In light of the severe global changes, it has become necessary for us to strengthen the concept of partnerships and pluralism between the pillars and groups of society, while paying attention to all Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). From here, Earth Guards launched the “Shield of Earth Guards”, to honor many companies and institutions with it; For achieving the goals of sustainable development, especially social responsibility, CEMEX Building Materials Solutions was among those honored with the shield in its first edition.

Therefore, the magazine elaborates on the efforts ofCEMEXto strengthen partnerships in the fields of development and the environment, as Assiut Cement Company – one of CEMEX companies – sought to strengthen development ties between it and the Ministry of Higher Education, by joining the Executive Council of the National Strategy for Higher Education and Scientific Research, as the industrial partner for the region. Assiut.

CEMEX Scientific and Educational Partnerships

CEMEX continues to strengthen its partnerships at the scientific level, becoming the best example of the private sector’s responsibility in performing its societal role. It was creative in developing different cooperation mechanisms with many institutions. It is the main sponsor of MBA students in Upper Egypt, as it provides all facilities for students and lecturers from the French University of ESLSCA to hold lectures at its headquarters, in addition to supporting the cost of study for all students in Upper Egypt by 20%.

CEMEX also worked to sign cooperation protocols between itself and some colleges to adopt students with talents, such as the artist/ Mahmoud El-Shazly – one of the talents of the Faculty of Fine Arts at Assiut University – whom CEMEX did not help develop his talent by providing the necessary tools during his studies only; Rather, it continued to support his private workshop.

If CEMEX is a strategic partner in promoting quality education, it is also an essential participant in the educational process itself. Some of its employees teach specialized subjects within the curricula of the Faculty of Science at Assiut University (cement raw materials, cement industry, concrete technology, industrial chemistry).

CEMEX also signed a cooperation protocol with the Integrated Technological Educational Complex in Assiut (ITEC), to host technical education students at the cement factory. To train them practically, and give them a real opportunity to develop and hone their skills.

CEMEX and the differently abled

In its development steps, people with special needs received great attention from CEMEX, as it equipped classrooms for them with specialized visual and sensory aids in schools in the cities of Sidfa and Ghanayem in Assiut Governorate. These equipments came with the same precision and excellence known to CEMEX.

CEMEX also sponsors the “Asdaa Team for the Deaf”, ensuring their continued competition in local and international competitions – especially the “Robo Challenge” – and at all different ages. To prove day after day that they are “capable of difference.”

This was a tangible glimpse of the efforts made by CEMEX; In order to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the most prominent of which are: Goal No. (4) quality education, and Goal No. (17) establishing partnerships to achieve the goals.
