Dr. Rania Al-MashatShe has been the Minister of International Cooperation in Egypt since December 2019, and she was also the first Minister of Tourism and Antiquities in the history of Egypt. Al-Mashat has more than 20 years of international experience in central banking, monetary policy frameworks, climate finance, and international cooperation policies and strategies.

AsMinister of International Cooperation, Al-Mashat represents Egypt at several international financial institutions, including the World Bank Group, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, and many others.

During her prominent professional journey, Al-Mashat was able to reserve a prominent place for herself in the most prominent institutions. Perhaps one of the most prominent glimpses of this is her membership in the UNICEF Gen U Global Leadership Council. She is also a founding member of the Global Alliance for Energy for People and Planet (GEAPP), a member of the World Economic Forum (WEF), a former advisor to the International Monetary Fund, head of the Monetary Policy Department at the Central Bank of Egypt, and a member of the Audit Committee of the Egyptian Stock Exchange.

On the scientific side, Al-Mashat holds a master’s degree and a doctorate in economics from the University of Maryland in the United States. She is also an assistant professor of economics at the American University in Cairo, in addition to many contributions to a number of important economic newspapers.

In addition, Al-Mashat launched the book “Stakeholder Engagement through Economic Diplomacy” for the London School of Economics in June 2021, and she also wrote several chapters in the IMF book “Developing the Limits of Monetary Policy,” which was published in 2008.

One of Al-Mashat’s notable contributions has been through her work at a comprehensive international advisory level to transform climate-related pledges into implementable projects in developing countries and economies in transition and producing the “Sharm El-Sheikh Guide to Fair Finance.”
