Egypt is a global development model at the World Conference on Population, Health and Human Development

Day after day, Egypt paints a bright picture through efforts to achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), something that Earth Guards is closely following. To spread awareness of sustainable development, within the framework of “Egypt Vision 2030”; Therefore, in the past few days, the magazine has highlighted the activities of theWorld Conference on Population, Health and Human Development (THE GLOBAL CONGRESS ON POPULATION, HEALTH AND HUMAN DEVELOPMENT), symbolized – for short – byPHDC’24, under the slogan “Human Development for a Future Sustainable.”

Egyptian Achievements

The world was in the New Administrative Capital – under the auspices of the President of the Republic – for the second Egyptian edition of this conference concerned with health, population and human development. Between 21 and 25 October, countries, delegations and international organizations participated in this global event, where Egypt’s achievements in the field of human development were confirmed to the world, in addition to its achievements in the field of eliminating Hepatitis C and malaria, addressing the problem of waiting lists in the health sector, developing its infrastructure, and other Egyptian achievements related to the issues of health and population.

There, Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar – Minister of Health and Population, and Deputy Prime Minister for Human Development Affairs – confirmed that the conference revealed Egypt’s efforts in two pioneering initiatives; They are: the National Program for Human Development and the National Health Strategy 2024-2030. These are the two initiatives that represent a national path towards achieving comprehensive health coverage and enhancing aspects of Egyptian health security within the framework of “Egypt Vision 2030.” This reflects the qualitative shift that the health sector has contributed to the population file, starting from the population census, through human development, and even reproductive rights.

Conference numbers and recommendations

The activities of the World Conference on Population, Health and Human Development witnessed the holding of 165 main sessions on issues of population, health and human development, in which 1,167 speakers participated, in addition to international and local experts, with 112 international and Egyptian organizations, and nearly 4,000 trainees participated in the fellowship program that embodies the future of health care in Egypt, and nearly 40,000 thousand participants throughout the days Conference.

At the conclusion of the conference, Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar reviewed the most important recommendations, which were based on three axes: They are: human development, health services, population issue. As for human development recommendations, they revolved around investing in education by ensuring and supporting stages of education for all segments of society, while increasing work to confront the problem of dropout from education, achieving higher rates of reducing the high rate of illiteracy in the young and middle age groups, and launching initiatives that work to reduce child labor and the marriage of underage girls, while providing what helps connect graduates to the labor market and its needs.

On the health axis, the World Conference on Health and Population called for increasing comprehensive health coverage services, completing efforts to raise the performance of health facilities and their workers, developing primary health care centers, reducing newborn deaths, and focusing on early diagnosis and rapid therapeutic intervention for cases of anemia, obesity, and stunting, while integrating mental health into development policies. In order to be an essential component of human development programs and other outputs that will support the health sector digitally and integrate its services with artificial intelligence tools. In a way that guarantees the Egyptian citizen a healthy, sustainable life.

With regard to the population issue, the Minister of Health and Population indicated that the Egyptian government will begin implementing the urgent plan to achieve population goals by implementing human development goals and the national population strategy in all governorates of the Republic, raising awareness of the importance of family planning services, and also increasing efforts related to the “Golden Thousand Days” initiative.

Then Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar concluded his speech by announcing the holding of the third session of the Conference on Population, Health and Human Development from 10 to 13 November 2025; Emphasizing the intensification of efforts to create a better future for every Egyptian, where he has the opportunity to live a healthy and dignified life.

This is how Egypt firmly consolidates its steps towards achieving the goals of sustainable development, inspiring the world with its experience and leadership in the fields of health, population and human development, and this is through the PHDC’24 conference, which revealed a bright Egyptian image that embodies the ambition and will to build a sustainable future for all Egyptians.
