In order to empower women, the “Empowerment through Art” forum is launched

For the sake of empowering women, the “Empowerment through Art” Forum was launched
Sustainable development efforts in all parts of the world are based on the foundations of equality and solidarity among all people. Based on the fact that it is a common concern that seeks to address all the problems and challenges facing humans and nature everywhere. On these foundations, women’s empowerment must be at the forefront of these global efforts.
For this reason, the activities of the third edition of the “Empowerment through Art” forum will begin on May 16 at the Grand Egyptian Museum, with the participation of more than 200 female artists from 35 countries, and in the presence of diplomatic, artistic and cultural figures from Egypt and the world.
The event, which runs until May 20, is not just an artistic event; Rather, it is a strategic platform that contributes to achieving the goals of sustainable development, by empowering women through art, promoting cultural justice, and expanding opportunities for women’s economic and creative participation in clear agreement with Egypt’s Vision 2030.
The role of art in empowering women
The “Empowerment through Art” forum this year focuses on the role of art as an effective means of making a real change in the lives of women, by highlighting their inspiring experiences and providing a safe space for expression and participation. This approach is consistent with Goal (5) of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) concerned with achievingGender Equality, through an international platform that highlights women’s artistic achievements and enhances their presence in the scene. Cultural.
The artist Sherine Badr – founder of the forum – explains that the event not only honors feminist creativity, but also contributes to reshaping the cultural scene through a fair and comprehensive lens that empowers women and enhances their opportunities for influence. Badr confirms that this approach seeks to open new horizons for artistic expression, reflecting women’s ambitions and diverse experiences, within an inclusive framework that supports creativity as a path to development and empowerment.
Supporting national and international institutions
The forum enjoys broad support and participation from ministries such as the Ministries of Culture, Social Solidarity, Youth and Sports, and Tourism, in addition to the Tourism Promotion Authority. Which reflects the state’s commitment to integrating the arts into sustainable development policies and empowering women culturally and economically. This institutional solidarity expresses a growing awareness of the importance of culture as a tool for building identity and enhancing participation, especially when it is employed in the service of women and through it opens the horizons of work and creativity for them.
This event comes in line with prominent national initiatives such as the “She for a Digital Future” program, initiatives to support women entrepreneurs, and small and medium enterprises led by the Ministry of Planning, in addition to programs aimed at the economic empowerment of women in rural and marginalized communities. Thus, the forum becomes a living example of the intersection of cultural policies with the economic and social goals of Egypt’s Vision 2030.
In addition to national support, the forum also enjoys international support from international institutions such as the United Nations Women and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, in addition to a number of foreign embassies. This international presence gives the forum a global character and enhances Cairo’s position as an international dialogue platform where issues of art, equality and human rights meet, in the context of achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Integrating people of determination into the artistic scene
One of the most prominent themes of this edition is highlighting the importance of integrating people of determination into the artistic scene, as producers or recipients, in a practical translation of the principle of “no one is left behind,” which is one of the foundations of Egypt’s Vision 2030. This trend is a practical step towards a more inclusive society that recognizes everyone’s right to creativity and participation, and makes art a means of achieving cultural and social justice.
The forum is expected to witness the signing of a cooperation protocol between the “Art Today” Foundation and the Women’s Museum in Bonn, Germany, which includes travel grants for five Egyptian female visual artists, in support of cultural exchange, and expanding the horizons of professional empowerment beyond national borders.
This openness to global partnerships contributes to consolidating the image of Egyptian women as bearers of a civilized message, through which they contribute to supporting Egypt’s cultural and humanitarian leadership, and enhance art as a soft diplomatic tool that highlights the status of Egyptian women in the regional and international scene, in line with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
In conclusion,Earth Guards believes that this forum confirms that women’s empowerment is not only achieved through laws, but also by giving women the tools of expression, expanding spaces for creativity, and integrating them into sustainable development paths, which place social justice and gender equality among their central priorities.
