The Egyptian Space Agency receives two ISO certificates in a high-level ceremony

The Egyptian efforts made for comprehensive development do not stop at the borders of the Earth. They extend to greater horizons in outer space, as it is a responsible user of it and possesses the ability to carry out space missions that serve its development and national security goals.

These national efforts aim to establish, transfer and develop space technology, localization and autonomous capabilities to build and launch satellites from Egyptian territory.

As part of these efforts, the Egyptian Space Agency celebrated obtaining the ISO AS9100:2016 and EN9001 certificates after it succeeded in passing all the requirements of quality systems and international standards approved for entities working in the space fieldAnd aviation, which reflects the Egyptian state’s interest in developing the national space infrastructure, deepening international partnerships, and highlighting the agency’s regional role at the level of the African continent.

High-level celebration

The Egyptian Agency was keen to hold a high-level celebration on the occasion of obtaining the two quality certificates, presented by Dr. Engineer Maged Ismail, CEO of the Egyptian Space Agency. It invited Mr. Eric Chevalier, the French Ambassador to Cairo, Professor Dr. Sherif Sedqi, former CEO of the Agency, and Dr. Tidian Otara, President of the African Space Council, along with Major General Sherif Al-Rashidi, Head of the Industrial Affairs Sector at the Ministry of Industry.

The celebration program included a ceremony to officially hand over the two quality certificates and honor a group of the agency’s engineers and administrators by granting them accredited certificates in appreciation.For their continued efforts in making this important path to the agency’s accreditation a success in accordance with international quality standards in the space and aviation sector.

Obtaining accreditation reflects diligent work and integrated efforts

In his speech delivered by Dr. Majed Ismail, CEO of the agency, he stressed that the agency’s success in obtaining accreditation came as a result of the hard work and continuous efforts of the engineering and administrative teams over the past period, pointing out that the agency’s continued adoption of the highest international quality standards supports its developmental and scientific role locally and regionally.

Continuous efforts and cooperative work

It is worth noting that the agency had begun the review work for accreditation during the year 2024 during the presidency of the former CEO of the agency, Professor Dr. Sherif Sedqi, and it continued for more than a year.Until the agency was approved after successfully passing all the review requirements.

From this standpoint, Professor Dr. Sherif Sedqi delivered a speech in which he reviewed the most important stages of development that the agency went through, noting that this achievement could not have been achieved except in the spirit of cooperation between all departments, and the keenness of the agency’s leadership to consolidate a culture of quality and international accreditation.

The French Ambassador expresses his happiness

The French Ambassador, Eric Chevalier, expressed his great pleasure in the distinguished participation in this success, noting that the Egyptian Space Agency’s obtaining of ISO certificates reflects a clear commitment to standards of excellence, and also enhances the opportunities for bilateral Egyptian-French cooperation in the fields of space science and technology, especially in light of the good strategic relations extending between the two countries.

Obtaining accreditation is an important achievement for the systemAfrican Space

On the African level, Dr. Tidian Otara, President of the African Space Council, participated in this distinguished celebration, stressing that the Egyptian Space Agency’s obtaining of the two accreditation certificates during this short period represents an important achievement for the African space system, stressing that Egypt is a fundamental pillar in supporting the continent’s directions to develop space programs and accelerate the pace of innovation and comprehensive development.

In August 2019, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi announced the establishment of the Egyptian Space Agency pursuant to Law No. 3 of 2018, which is an Egyptian public economic body that enjoys legal personality and reports to the President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, and aims to establish and transfer the development of space technology, localization, and autonomous capabilities to build and launch satellites from Egyptian Arab lands.

In 2022, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi decided to appoint Professor Dr. Sherif Sedqy to the position of CEO of the Egyptian Space Agency.

The agency has a vision based on the Arab Republic of Egypt being an active member in global space initiatives, and being able to carry out deep space missions to explore and exploit space resources.

It also adopts a clear message that promotes the peaceful uses of outer space, develops scientific systems at the national level by investing in the development of human capital, and benefits from the space industry to achieve a sustainable future, in addition to supporting research and development, advancing the path of innovations, enhancing space awareness, and developing a reliable, responsive and applicable space system to reach economic solutions to serve national goals and achieve comprehensive sustainable development in line with the vision ofEgypt 2030.

In conclusion, the Egyptian Space Agency’s obtaining two international accreditation certificates is a strategic step that strengthens its regional and international standing, confirms its firm commitment to applying the highest international standards of quality and performance, and also highlights the extent of the efforts made to develop the space sector and keep pace with global developments.
