In her speech yesterday about the celebration of “The Egyptian Woman and Ideal Mother for the Year 2023”, at the Manara International Conference Center in New Cairo, Dr. Hala Al-Saeed, “Minister of Planning and Economic Development,” pointed out that the effortsempowering women - economically and socially Politically, it has become a shining light between all the axes of the state’s vision and its development programmes. The Minister - in the presence of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and his wife, Intisar El-Sisi - expressed her overwhelming happiness at this celebration, which sends a message of thanks and a telegram of congratulations to the virtuous mothers of Egypt. Because of the dedication and sincere efforts they make in their homes and country.

The minister said: “Supporting womenand empowering women has become an important matter in the state’s development direction, and this importance is evident in positive indicators and numbers, which reflects the efforts made by the state in supporting the status of Egyptian women. Among these positive numbers and indicators is that over the course of 8 years, women have contributed to many projects, whether medium, small, or micro. Al-Saeed noted the increase in the percentage of women’s financial inclusion from 19% to 58% in December 2022, and the increase in the number of women enjoying financial services during this period by more than doubling by 210% from 6 million to 18 million women.

The Minister of Planning and Economic Development added: Women are the basis of various presidential initiatives, which aim to improve health services. Among these initiatives are “Presidential Initiative to Support Women’s Health” and “Initiative to Support Maternal and Fetal Health,” and this is without talking about health initiatives targeting all Egyptians; Drawing attention to the fact that “A Decent Life” - a presidential initiative to develop the countryside - had an effective role in improving the living conditions of Egyptian women, with that initiative providing health services, housing and decent job opportunities, as the project contributed to improving the quality of life of about 8 million women in its first phase, and it is expected to reach 26 million women in all of Egypt’s villages through three phases of the project.

The Minister continued: “The National Project for the Development of the Egyptian Family comes under the generous patronage of the President of the Republic, in order to support efforts to improve the status of women and improve the quality of Egyptian family life in general, and this is through axes that include the economic empowerment of women by making financial - and non-financial - services available for women’s projects and training programmes, in close cooperation between the government - as well as the private sector - civil society, financial and banking institutions and development partners, in addition to positive incentives that are available For the first time, through a deferred savings document conditional on adherence to controls that guarantee the preservation of the health of women and their families.”

AsDr. Hala Al-Saeed saw itBuilding women’s qualifications is one of the effective ways towards development. She explained that the state is committed to this developmental role despite the challenges, as it trained - last year - 14,000 women from the governorates of Egypt, and this is within multiple training programs, including the Executive Women’s Leadership Program, in addition to the “Egyptian Leaders Abroad Programme,” which connects great Egyptian women abroad with the motherland, as well as the “She for a Digital Future Initiative,” which is an initiative that aims to bridge the digital gap between the genders, to increase opportunities for empowering women in future jobs. In addition to the “Be an Ambassador” initiative, which seeks to spread the culture of sustainable development among the youth of Egypt, as the percentage of girls who graduated from this development initiative reached 60% of the total trainees of the initiative in all governorates.
