The Ministry of Higher Education launches 3 programs to empower emerging companies in technology and artificial intelligence

The state’s steps are accelerating towards empowering emerging companies with an advanced technological nature, by building an integrated research system that links knowledge outputs with the needs of the labor market. In this context, the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research launched, during a meeting of the Council of Research Centers, Institutes and Bodies headed by Dr. Ayman Ashour – Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research – three specialized programs aimed at supporting innovation and expanding the uses of artificial intelligence in scientific research institutions, which reflects the government’s orientation towards investing in technology and localizing its tools in various sectors.

These programs aim to enhance the role of research centers and institutes in serving the knowledge economy, by supporting emerging technological companies, expanding the scope of intellectual property protection, in addition to establishing advanced centers for artificial intelligence applications. These initiatives are an essential pillar for developing scientific research and achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) within Egypt’s Vision 2030.

Egypt Research Network Program to Empower Startups

The first program,The Egypt Research Network Program, tops the list of initiatives aimed at empowering the most technologically advanced emerging companies, by promoting effective and efficient cooperation with research centers. This program provides an integrated national platform that allows startups to access advanced laboratories, and consulting, technological and legal services, that help them transform research innovations into projects that are commercially and applied. The program also gives emerging companies an opportunity to integrate with research centers in implementing national projects and allows them to participate in the government procurement system. Which enhances its ability to grow and expand its economic impact.

This program reflects the state’s desire to build an entrepreneurship system based on advanced scientific research and linking the outputs of research centers with the needs of the market and industry, which consolidates the role of emerging companies in leading the technological transformation towards a more sustainable economy. Through this framework, the Egypt Research Network creates a dynamic cooperation environment that directly paves the way for the second program, which focuses on intellectual property protection as a guarantee for the success of research innovations.

Intellectual Property Protection Program

The second program deals withIntellectual Property Protection Program, as it allows researchers to submit applicationsPatent Cooperation Treaty (PCT), through research centers and scientific bodies, with the research bodies committing to bear the costs of support for researchers whose applications are accepted after meeting the specific technical and legal requirements. The program seeks to enable researchers to protect their innovations at the international level, thus enhancing Egypt’s index in the field of intellectual property, and ensuring the transformation of research ideas into legal assets capable of investment and industrial application.

This program comes to complement the state’s vision of linking innovation to the national economy, by supporting researchers in registering their innovations and removing financial and legal obstacles that may limit the spread of Egyptian research globally, which paves the way for broad practical applications, especially in parallel with the third program on artificial intelligence.

Creating artificial intelligence centers within research bodies

The third program includes the establishment of three advanced centers for artificial intelligence applications withincenters, institutes and research bodiesin areas of national priority. These centers includeThe Center for Artificial Intelligence and its Applications in Supporting Scientific Research and Innovation at the National Research Center, and a specialized center inmetals research and development;to employ artificial intelligence in developing mineral industries, in addition to a center withinthe National Authority for Remote Sensing and Space Sciencesto apply smart technologies in analyzing space data. And environmental.

These centers constitute a national nucleus for transforming artificial intelligence into a strategic tool to support applied scientific research, which contributes to enhancing Egypt’s ability to produce innovative solutions in the fields of industry, environment, and advanced technology. This trend comes within the framework of the state’s vision to integrate modern technology into the national research infrastructure, and to transform centers and institutes into effective platforms for innovation.

Launching of a National Smart Energy Alliance

In the same context, the meeting witnessed the signing of a cooperation protocol to establish the “Smart Energy Alliance” (Smart Energy Alliance), with the participation of ten research, industrial, educational and regulatory bodies, under the supervision of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and within the framework of the presidential initiative “Alliance and Development”. The alliance aims to implement a project entitled: “Sustainable industrial solutions using renewable and green energy to develop some of the most widespread petroleum and chemical products in Egypt to reduce the import bill.”
The alliance includes: the Petroleum Research Institute, the Egyptian Organization for Standardization and Quality headed by Dr. Khaled Sofi, the New and Renewable Energy Authority, the National Research Center, the Qadir Factory for Advanced Industries, the Faculty of Engineering at Badr University, and the Hayat Karima Foundation, in addition to a number of industrial and consulting entities.

In conclusion, these three programs launched by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research reflect a comprehensive vision for building a knowledge economy, based on innovation as a basic pillar of sustainable development. By linking technologically deeper startups to research centers, protecting intellectual property, and establishing artificial intelligence centers in research centers, institutes, and bodies, Egypt is moving toward an integrated model that balances scientific progress with economic and social needs.

Therefore, theThe Earth Guards Foundation finds that these national initiatives open the door to broad cooperation between researchers, entrepreneurs, and government agencies, thus strengthening Egypt’s position as a regional center for innovation, and establishing a future in which community support is integrated with economic development and environmental protection, and within a national framework that seeks to achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
