Integrated support for alternative families

The Minister of Social Solidarity chaired the meeting of the Supreme Committee for Fostering Alternative Families, in the presence of representatives of the relevant authorities and ministries, including Justice, Foreign Affairs, Interior, Health, Education, Higher Education, the Public Prosecution, the Administrative Control Authority, Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, Dar Al-Ifta, the National Council for Childhood and Motherhood, and a number of associations. A Door of Hope”… Economic Empowerment

As part of the efforts of the Ministry of Social Solidarity to move from cash support to economic empowerment,Dr. Maya Morsi openedthe activities of the international experience exchange meeting on the “Bab of Hope” program, with the participation of delegations from Jordan, Djibouti and Somalia, and a number of partner institutions, such as ESCWA.

During the meeting, the Minister explained that the Ministry was able to provide cash support to 7.8 million families, representing about 30% of Egyptian society, with 3.1 million families emerging from the cycle of poverty into work and production, thanks to micro-projects and economic empowerment efforts.

It also announced two notable achievements in 2025:

First-Issuance of the new Social Security Law No. (12) of 2025, which guarantees the rights of families benefiting from cash support to obtain integrated social protection services.

Second-Assigning the Ministry of Solidarity to head the strategic financial system for economic empowerment, to unify national efforts in the areas of financial inclusion, small loans, and microinsurance; With the aim of enhancing the environment for small and medium enterprises and creating new job opportunities.

Humanitarian partnership with the United Nations

In another aspect of her activities, theMinister of Social Solidarity – in her capacity as Vice President of the Egyptian Red Crescent – received Mr. Tom Fletcher, “United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs”, where the Egyptian relief efforts towards the Gaza Strip were reviewed.

During the meeting, the Minister reviewed Egypt’s efforts to deliver humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza through more than 35,000 male and female volunteers in the Egyptian Red Crescent. Explaining that Egypt facilitated the delivery of more than 580,000 tons of aid to Gaza, including food, medicine and psychological support, through “Zad al-Izza… from Egypt to Gaza” convoys.

Mr. Fletcher stressed his great appreciation for the organization and professionalism he saw within the Egyptian Red Crescent’s central operations room, considering the Egyptian efforts a global model for effective humanitarian work.

Joint Arab Action

In confirmation of Egypt’s leadership role in the Arab system, theMinister of Social Solidarity chaired the 82nd session of the Executive Office of the Council of Arab Ministers of Social Affairs of the League of Arab States, in the presence of Arab ministers and ambassadors.

During her speech, Dr. Maya Morsi stressed the importance of the joint Arab role in facing humanitarian and social challenges, especially supporting the situation in Palestine, noting that the meetings coincided with the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit headed by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and US President Donald Trump.

The Executive Office also discussed social development files, empowering people with disabilities and the elderly, enhancing Arab integration in the face of the effects of climate change, and digital empowerment to achieve social inclusion, as the Minister confirmed continuing coordination with Arab countries to prepare executive decisions that ensure achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and improving the quality of life of Arab citizens.
