Integrated National Financing for Sustainable Development

Integrated National Financing for Sustainable Development
It is known that Egypt has taken upon itself in recent years the necessity of green transformation, rebuilding environmental concepts on a scientific basis, and moving towards achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in all fields. This is the role assigned to ministries and civil society institutions, as these bodies must work to create ideas and implement them. So that Egypt becomes more sustainable.
All of this requires financing, which is something that Egypt makes a priority. This is why the Ministry of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation announced the completion of the formulation of the integrated national financing framework for sustainable development. It is a practical framework for promoting Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and financing them at the state level.
That announcement was part of a meeting between a ministerPlanning, economic development and international cooperation – Dr. Rania Al-Mashat – and Mrs. Amina Mohamed, “Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations and Head of the Sustainable Development Group,” and this is on the sidelines of the World Scout Conference, whose 43rd edition Egypt is hosting in the period between 17 and 23 August of this month.
There were discussions between the two parties aboutThe Future Summit, which will be held next September, and the Egyptian government’s efforts to implement the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The two sides also discussed implementing the strategic framework for the partnership between Egypt and the United Nations 2023-2027.
In the same context, the Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation indicated that the holding of the Future Summit will coincide with the start of the work of the new Egyptian government, which has developed an ambitious program that seeks to formulate innovative and based policies.Developing economic performance in a comprehensive and equitable manner.
The Minister also confirmed that these comprehensive and fair policies reflect the Egyptian vision for sustainable development, and also reflect its interest in development financing, especially after the merger of the Ministries of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation within the new ministerial formation.
Then Dr. Rania Al-Mashat referred to the government’s efforts in launching the Sharm El-Sheikh Guide to Fair Financing, and this was when Egypt hosted COP27 in the city of Sharm El-Sheikh in 2022. The aim of launching this guide – according to the Minister’s words – was to strengthen the principles of fair financing, and to define the responsibilities of the parties concerned with such national transformations in the field of sustainable development, which are green transformations that benefit all countries of the world. In order to stimulate them – especially developing countries and emerging economies – to attract investments capable of taking into account the environment and its resources.
These data led the dialogue that took place between the Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation and the Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations to consider the feasibility of the national platform “Novi”, which is considered a step to apply and implement the principles of fair financing, in order to achieve the best methods of adaptation, mitigation and resilience to climate change issues.
In line with this Egyptian trend and the global movement towards providing easy and fair financing, in order to achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), implement environmental goals, and support economies – we stress the importance of establishing development partnerships and the participation of the private sector on the path to sustainable development. So that we can restructure the global financial system.
In conclusion, the Earth Guards believe that Egypt is on the right development path, and that its national platforms are of great importance in both efforts.Development and climate, which is what we see in a platform like the “Novi” platform. Because it is a practical model that reflects Egyptian efforts – nationally and globally – in achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
