In light of these efforts made to strengthen the health system and link it to sustainable development, the General Authority for Health Care recently witnessed an important step in the field of precise cardiac care, through the visit of the international Spanish expert.In cardiology and interventional catheterization, Dr. Jose Diaz Fernandez, to the Suez and Ismailia Medical Complexes.
This visit was part of the Authority’s strategy that aims to transfer international medical expertise, train Egyptian cadres, and localize the latest global technologies in treating chronic heart diseases, thus enhancing the ability of hospitals to provide advanced and safe services to beneficiaries of the comprehensive health insurance system in various governorates.

Dr. Ahmed Al-Sabki, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the General Authority for Health Care, confirmed that the visit of the Spanish expert represents an important step in the path of developing cardiac and interventional catheterization services, pointing out that international cooperation and the transfer of practical experiences are among the basic pillars for improving the quality of health care provided to citizens, especially in subspecialties.
He pointed out that at the Suez Medical Complex, advance preparations were made for the visit by organizing preparatory clinics over two days, during which medical examinations were conducted on about 130 cases of chronic heart disease, in preparation for their presentation and discussion with the Spanish expert, within the framework of an integrated work system aimed at selecting the most appropriate cases for advanced interventions.
For transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVI)
It is worth noting that the medical team in the Cardiology and Catheterization Department at the Suez Medical Complex, led by Prof. Dr. Ahmed Ali, Head of the Cardiology and Catheterization Department, and Prof. Dr. Mohamed Sabry, Consultant in Cardiology and Catheterization, and in cooperation with the Spanish expert, succeeded in performing two cases of transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVI) for patients over the age of seventy years, to be a safe alternative to open-heart surgery, and interventions were performed.Successfully according to the highest medical standards.

Dr. Ahmed Al-Sabki indicated that the Spanish expert’s visit included the Ismailia Medical Complex, where a specialized workshop (TAVI Workshop) was organized that aimed to train about 20 interventional cardiologists. The workshop focused on transferring practical and applied experience in the field of cardiology and interventional catheterization, and introducing doctors to the latest technologies and precise therapeutic procedures, which contributes to raising the efficiency of Egyptian medical teams and developing their skills in this vital specialty.
