With the approaching Eid al-Fitr of 2026, state institutions are moving to strengthen medical insurance. To ensure the safety of citizens, especially in light of the increase in movement, movements, and gatherings, which places the health system at the heart of the national preparedness scene.

In this context, Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, “Minister of Health and Population,” announced the launch of an integrated plan for medical and first aid insurance, aiming to increase the efficiency of rapid response to emergency cases and achieve the highest levels of preparedness in the various governorates during the days of Eid al-Fitr.

Medical insurance plan for Eid al-Fitr

The plan depends on raising the degree of preparedness within more than 700 government hospitals, with emergency and operations rooms operating continuously throughout the day, as well as allocating about 250 hospitals to be major referral centers on roads and highways, to provide urgent care services and rapid medical intervention, especially in cases of accidents.

This is supported by equipping theIntensive Care departments, and providing additional reserves of medicines and medical supplies, ensuring uninterrupted service continuity during the Eid period, which usually witnesses increasing pressure on health facilities.

Strengthening the ambulance system

Within the framework of supporting the field response, about 3,000 ambulances were distributed throughout the republic, in addition to strengthening the positions of about 1,200 additional vehicles in vital areas, such as main roads, public squares, and around mosques and parks.

Also, 27 emergency rooms in the governorates were linked with the main control center, allowing the reports to be followed up in real time, and the nearest ambulance to be directed to deal with them efficiently. This is accompanied by direct field supervision from ambulance commanders. In order to ensure rapid intervention, especially in areas with high densities.

Securing roads and vital axes

Also, the plan focuses on covering the most crowded traffic axes, including the coastal road, the desert and agricultural roads between Cairo and Alexandria, in addition to the roads of South Sinai, the Red Sea, and the governorates of Upper Egypt.

More than 600 fixed and mobile ambulance stationing points have been distributed on these roads, enhancing the ability to immediately deal with accidents and reducing response time, which is a crucial element in saving lives during peak periods.

Rapid Deployment Teams and Enhancement of Blood Banks

As part of the medical insurance preparations for Eid al-Fitr, 54 deployment teams were formed throughout the republic. To deal with major accidents and health emergencies, while providing a strategic stock of blood amounting to about 40 thousand bags of various types.

This approach is part of a proactive strategy that aims to deal with critical scenarios efficiently, especially in light of the possibility of increasing accidents during the holidays, especially Eid al-Fitr, in order to achieve the goal of good health among the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Intensive health control to ensure food safety

On the preventive level, the Ministry intensified its monitoring campaigns to include more than 35,000 food establishments, especially shops selling salted fish and sweets, in addition to hotels, restaurants, and parks. About 1,200 health oversight teams were also deployed to monitor compliance with health and environmental requirements, in a step aimed at reducing the risks associated with food poisoning and protecting public health during Eid al-Fitr.

Central operating room and emergency hotline

On the other hand, the Crisis and Emergency Room continues to meet around the clock; To follow up on the implementation of the plan, and deal with any developments, while activating the hotline (137) to receive reports and medical inquiries, then providing immediate support to citizens.
