A new achievement.. Egypt obtains accreditation from the International Society for Healthcare Quality
Improving the quality of health care is of great importance to the Egyptian government, as it is making unremitting efforts to accredit a large group of health facilities in accordance with international standards for the quality of health care in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) related to providing good health and well-being, and in line with Egypt’s Vision 2030.
Hence, Egypt, represented by theGeneral Authority for Health Accreditation and Regulatory (GAHAR), sets the standards that must be met by health facilities to provide safe health services to patients and their families; As the body entrusted with ensuring the quality of health services and their continuous improvement, controlling and organizing the health sector in accordance with quality standards, and accrediting health facilities.
Accreditation of the Physical Therapy Centers Standards Guide
In continuation of the authority’s fulfillment of its mission to regulate the Egyptian health sector and confirm confidence in the quality of its outputs at all local, regional and international levels and ensure the quality of health care services, the Guide to Standards for Accreditation of Physiotherapy Centers has been accredited by the International Society for Quality in Healthcare (ISQua EEA) with an international conformity rate of 99.2%. This came after the evaluation of the association’s international experts, with the accreditation being valid for the period from December 2025 until December 2025. 2029.
Dr. Ahmed Taha, Chairman of the General Authority for Health Accreditation and Control, confirmed that this accreditation is a qualitative and important step towards improving the quality of physical therapy services, enhancing the ability of patients to regain their health functions, and ensuring their feeling of safety and confidence in the level and quality of the service provided to them.
He explained that GAHAR adopts a comprehensive approach that puts the patient at the top of priorities, through continuous development of standards and periodic review of regulatory evidence, based on the latest scientific practices and international evidence, and in cooperation with an elite group of experts and specialists.
Quality of physical therapy services
The adoption of the Guide to Standards for Accreditation of Physical Therapy Services aims to establish an advanced level of quality of physical therapy services, in accordance with international best practices. It also guarantees every patient an effective and safe therapeutic experience, within a unified scientific framework that contributes to reducing medical errors, improving therapeutic results, and enhancing the efficiency of professional performance.
Dr. Ahmed Taha, Chairman of the Authority, pointed out that physical therapy is one of the basic pillars in the path of recovery and functional rehabilitation, due to its direct reliance on accurate clinical evaluation, continuous therapeutic interventions, and daily interaction between the patient and the service provider, which requires the presence of specialized and precise quality standards that regulate practice, control evaluation procedures, treatment plans, and follow-up of results, ensuring the achievement of the best therapeutic outcomes with the highest levels of safety.
Notable international achievements in the field of developing health standards
It is worth noting that the year 2025 witnessed a series of international achievements in the field of developing health care standards and improving the quality of services provided. Included:
- Accreditation of the Hospital Standards Guide – 2025 Edition.
- Accreditation of Primary Health Care Standards – 2025 Edition.
- Approval of the Medical Analysis Laboratories Standards Guide – 2025 Edition.
- Approval of the Standards Guide for Convalescent Homes, Extended Care and Medical Hospitalization.
- Issuing the National Guide for Medical Equipment for Hospitals.
These successive achievements represent a reflection of the authority’s firm commitment to applying the highest international standards for the quality of health care, ensuring the provision of safe and effective health services to citizens, as well as consolidating a culture of quality, and enhancing Egypt’s position regionally and globally in the field of accreditation of health facilities.
