Earth Guards song to raise awareness of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

Earth Guards song to raise awareness of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
Sustainable development was not once a luxury that everyone sang about, until they kept pace with the new global tone regarding its goals and localization among all countries. Rather,Sustainable developmentand its goals are a popular necessity and inevitability necessitated by the requirements of transforming societies towards a human civilization that preserves the capabilities and resources of planet Earth. This is what the political leadership sought to achieve by directing work towards achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), by stimulating everything that can contribute to enhancing sustainable Egyptian life, whether on the social, cultural, or economic level.
Therefore, the The Earth Guards Foundation worked to strive with unparalleled activity towards spreading awareness of the importance of achieving this national vision, and shedding light on development efforts, especially those efforts that come within the framework of the Presidential Human Development Initiative “Bedaya”, which takes raising the quality of life of the Egyptian person as a goal, through many axes upon which the relevant sectors, both governmental and private, are based.
National vision and sustainable results
Today, the goals of the The Earth Guards Foundation meet with the goals of the “Bedaya” initiative, which carries the slogan “A new beginning for building the Egyptian human being,” as the Foundation launched the song “Hamat Al-Earth”; Believing in the pivotal role of art in conveying awareness messages in a striking and attractive way that remains in people’s conscience and mind.
The song – whose words were woven by Dr. Muhammad Ziadeh – came in a way that links the present with the future, and motivates new generations of children, youth and others. To understand and realize the goals of sustainable development, which is what the national agenda “Egypt Vision 2030” is working to achieve on the ground.
The lyrics of the song “Earth Guards” – in addition to the above – combined the seventeen Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs); To highlight its integration, which creates a future based on the aspirations of the present and the steps of the future, which is what appears at the beginning of the video clip, where the children representing the Egyptian people in all its categories appeared in a classroom where the teacher is explaining the goals of sustainable development. To instill in these children the sustainable values that build a promising, sustainable future. Let us see these children, each in their traditional dress, planting the tools of education, health, manufacturing, and agriculture in the good land of Egypt. In reference to the usefulness of sustainable investment in different sectors; To then achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The song emphasized, from its first words, the importance of education and health, as they are the engine of development that helps the rest of the sectors achieve sustainable transformation, and this is in the phrase “With education and health we develop,” which refers to two important goals; They are: Goal (3) good health and well-being, and Goal (4) quality education.
Then the song concerned that education and health be accompanied by a life in which justice and equality prevail, and this is in the phrase “Equality with each other, we sing,” as we can achieve goal (5) gender equality, goal (10) reducing inequalities, and goal (16) peace, justice, and strong institutions; So that the desired result would be in her next phrase, “There is no poverty, there is no hunger.” In order to achieve the two goals (1, 2) of eliminating poverty, andthe complete elimination of hunger.
The lyrics of the song continue; She said: “There is no injustice, there are no tears,” which again refers to the three goals of general equality, gender equality, peace and justice; These are goals that put us on the path of progress and civilization. The phrase “we plant, we make, we build a city” is a reference to the basic tools for development, which are reflected in Goal (8) Decent Work and Economic Growth, Goal (9) Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, as well as Goal (11) Sustainable Cities and Local Communities. Then the phrase “We protect the earth, its climate is our protector,” which is the phrase that stems from Goal (13) Climate Action.
After that, the lyrics of the song radiate more and more positive energy, as it says: “Clean energy whose cover shelters us,” and this is in reference to Goal No. (7) clean and affordable energy, and what follows its use of preserving the atmosphere, which protects the Earth, and is the good that we must preserve, which is confirmed by the phrase “We preserve its goodness, its goodness, this is ours”; To indicate the necessity of achieving Goal No. (12) Responsible Consumption and Production.
And about the Egyptian river and its water, the phrase “The sea and the river that water our legs” was launched towards raising awareness of Goal (6) clean water and sanitation, and Goal (14) Life under water. If water is the basis of life, it is also the essence and soul of agriculture. That is why the song “The Earth Guards” emphasized this meaning in the phrase, “Righteousness and cultivation, the good of which is sufficient for us.” Which refers to Goal No. (15): Life on land.
The above requires that it be founded on constructive cooperation and effective partnerships, so that the result becomes an advanced industry and a developing economy. Therefore, the song “Earth Guards” explains in its last words how all of this can be achieved, when it says: “Hand on hand, we will protect it together,” which is reflected in Goal No. (17) establishing partnerships to achieve the goals, and when it also says: “And for generations to be protected within us,” in fulfillment of Goal No. (12) Responsible Consumption and Production.
Song of the Egyptian People
Those aspirations and ambitions – as the song presents them – are the fruits of the sustainable work that these children planted. The result was advanced hospitals, advanced schools, green infrastructure, and sustainable projects, where productive agriculture and industry compete with global markets and a strong economy. All of them are a result of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), effectively achieving them on the ground.
The song’s video at the end emphasizes the need for everyone to come together. In order to achieve these goals, all segments of society – men from the legislative, executive and judicial authorities, the security sector, education officials, medical personnel, clergy, businessmen, employees, athletes, and craftsmen – must unite to confirm that they are all Earth Guards. This is before the video returns to the scene of the school classroom, which has become more developed and advanced after achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which is the desired fruit.
What is worth noting is the extent of the interest of the Earth Guards in choosing voices that represent all segments of society. With the voice of the popular artist Ahmed Shaybah, the listener feels that he is witnessing a popular work of art, and with the operatic voice of the artist Reham Abdel Hakim, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) go deep into the minds of the listeners, in addition to the voice of the artist Hani Adel, whose voice is widespread among middle-class Egyptian youth. Which spreads awareness of these goals in all sectors of society.
The above is what the Earth Guards song wanted to emphasize in the minds of our children, youth and adults, to be one of the achievements of the The Earth Guards Foundation, and a continuation of its current efforts, and in preparation for its future efforts, and in a way that serves and achieves its awareness message of the importance of achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in all sectors and fields and among the entire spectrum of society.
