Dr. Khaled Sofi, Chairman of the Standards and Quality Authority and President of the International Organization for Standardization, confirmed that the renewal of the laboratory’s accreditation is a new international testimony to the efficiency of the Authority’s laboratories and the accuracy of their results, and reflects the success of the Authority’s strategy in developing its central laboratories in accordance with the latest international standards, thus enhancing its position as the national house of expertise in the fields of testing, standardization, quality and accreditation.
He explained that obtaining and renewing accreditation represents international recognition of the efficiency of the work system within the laboratories, the competence of the technical staff, and the reliability of the testing services provided by the authority, noting that developing laboratories and upgrading the accreditation system comes at the forefront of the authority’s priorities to support the national industry and enhance the quality of the Egyptian product.
Enhancing the competitiveness of Egyptian exports
He added that the Authority continues to implement its vision of building a strong national quality system that contributes to removing technical obstacles to trade, enhancing access opportunities for Egyptian products to foreign markets, and increasing the competitiveness of Egyptian exports, in implementation of the state’s directives to improve the quality of the Egyptian product and strengthen the quality infrastructure system.

The scope of accreditation includes conducting physical tests for oils, fuels and polymers, some chemical tests for water, food, detergents, edible oils and iron alloys, and quantitative chemical analysis to estimate mixing ratios for some raw materials.Histological tests, in addition to microbiological tests for food and feed, support the state’s efforts to protect the public health of the consumer, enhance the quality of Egyptian products, and increase their competitiveness in global markets.
