By presidential decree...launching the Green Egypt Skills Development Project for the Climate Smart Agricultural Business Network
Today, Egypt is completing its development efforts, and is seeking, through its tireless government, to strengthen the agricultural sector and green its activities in a manner consistent with the foundations of development and construction upon which the new republic is based. This is represented in the latest presidential decree - Resolution No. 567 of 2024 - regarding the approval of the “Grant Agreement for the Green Egypt Skills Development Project for the Climate Smart Agricultural Business Network in Egypt".
This agreement - which was published in the Official Gazette today - comes as an international partnership between the government of the Arab Republic of Egypt and the government of Canada, with financial funding of 9.9 million Canadian dollars. In order to cooperate between the two countries to implement a development partnership aimed at strengthening the agricultural and food sectors, and improving food security rates.
This is in the context of the Egyptian development plans, which make the Egyptian citizen their first goal, by reaching the highest rates of achieving the seventeen Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), not in the agricultural sector alone, but in all sectors. Therefore, this partnership - and other Egyptian international partnerships - contributes to strengthening the Egyptian approach that the government takes upon itself to provide promising opportunities capable of achieving Goal No. (17) of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): establishing partnerships to achieve the goals. This will be in the interest of Egyptians on the basis of equality and justice.
Also, this development partnership will helpthe Egyptian agricultural sectorto achieve the relevant Egyptian strategies, which target the sustainability of environmental resources, and work to enhance food abundance - especially since we have become in a world of many conflicts - with what this partnership can provide in terms of supporting the local economy and providing hard currency; Which enriches economic reform efforts.
In addition to the above, such partnerships provide an investment climate that opens the door to efforts to maximize agricultural productivity, especially in the production of strategic crops such as wheat and corn, in accordance with the modern developments on which green agriculture is based, and in a way that achieves all Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
