The report also indicates that Egypt is classified today among the countries with high human development, ahead of the development rates in developing countries, which averaged 0.712, as well as Arab countries, with an average of 0.719. Although Egypt's index is still slightly lower than the average of high-development countries (0.777), this progress reflects the success of the country's strategy in the areas of economic and social development, especially in light of digital transformations and accelerating global challenges.

In her comment on the report, Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation, confirmed that Egypt’s progress in human development indicators reflects the success of the government’s ongoing efforts to improve the quality of life of citizens through prominent strategic projects, including the National Project for the Development of the Egyptian Family and the Comprehensive Health Insurance Program, in addition to supporting women’s empowerment and the continued development of the communications and information technology sector.

The Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation also indicated that the National Human Development Report for 2025, which is issued in cooperation with the United Nations Development Programme, will provide an in-depth objective analysis of the path of development in Egypt, with recommendations that respond to the financial and economic challenges facing developing countries in light of the current global conditions.

The Minister also noted the importance of resuming the issuance of national human development reports after a hiatus that lasted more than ten years, which reflects the Egyptian state’s commitment to transparency and the desire to share its development experience with the international community, and to promote national and international dialogue on sustainable development policies, which focus on building human capabilities and empowerment; To be the primary actor in building the future.

A tangible improvement in several vital areas in Egypt

The indicators of the 2025 Human Development Report indicate clear progress in several vital areas in Egypt, especially in the health sector. Average life expectancy at birth has increased to 71.6 years; Which reflects the improvement of the health system and its ability to provide effective medical and treatment services, and this health development enhances the quality of life of citizens and reduces disease and mortality rates, and is an important indicator of the success of health policies aimed at improving the health of the population.

In the field of education, Egypt witnessed a remarkable expansion, as the average expected years of education increased to 13.1 years, with an increase in the average years of actual education for adults to 10.1 years. This growth in education levels reflects positively on the opportunities for youth and adults to acquire the necessary skills and knowledge to face the challenges of the labor market and contribute to economic and social development. Thus, the report demonstrates the success of efforts to improve the quality of education. Which supports the country's sustainable development process.

The report also focuses on the Gender Development Index (GDI), which measures the gap between males and females in the areas of education, health, and income, by comparing the Human Development Index for women with the Human Development Index for men. In 2023, the Human Development Index for women in Egypt reached about 0.695, while men recorded a higher index of 0.777; Resulting in a GDI value of 0.895.

This percentage indicates that women in Egypt are achieving about 89.5% of the level of development enjoyed by men, which is progress that shows a reduction in the gap between the sexes. Although this number is still lower than the global average of 0.955, it exceeds the average of Arab countries, which is 0.871. This reflects remarkable progress in improving equality between men and women at the development level.
