Egypt follows up on preparations for the launch of the ninth Cairo Water Week through international cooperation

Accordingly, the Minister of Irrigation confirmed that Cairo Water Week represents one of the most important mechanisms for implementing the axisInternational cooperation within the second generation of the Egyptian water system 2.0 (a national strategy for intelligent water management); Because it provides a global platform that brings together decision-makers, experts, international organizations and development partners from various countries of the world, which enhances the exchange of experiences, supports international partnerships, and contributes to confronting water challenges and achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Empowering youth in the water sector

The report also reviewed developments in the competitions dedicated to supporting youth and researchers, as 167 contestants applied to the “Young Innovators” competition, 117 projects to the “On the Cod” competition, in addition to 37 contestants who applied to the “Three Minute Thesis” competition, with entries for the “Best Graduation Projects” competition starting August 15, 2026.

The ninth Cairo Water Week is expected to witness the organization of a number of high-level regional and international events, most notably the Seventh Arab Water Conference, which will be held between October 26 and 27, 2026, under the slogan “Water in the Arab Region: Partnerships for Peace and Sustainable Development”; In order to discuss important files, including:

In the same context, coordination is being made with the organizers of the Eleventh World Water Forum in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the World Water Council; To organize a special session within the “Road to Riyadh 2027” track, in a way that enhances the continuity of international dialogue and ensures the integration of the outcomes of the Cairo Water Week with the work of the next global forum.
