The petroleum sector faces clean energy challenges at the “Cerawick 2023 Conference”

 

As part of the “CERAWIC 2023 Conference” event in the United States of America, Engineer Tarek El Molla – Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources – participated in a ministerial session, under the title:Political and Economic Geography: The Era of Volatility.

The session discussed the challenges facingthe energy industry at this time, and among these challenges are: preserving the environment, and achieving “Net Zero Emissions”; This is in parallel with continuing to secure some of the energy supplies necessary to maintain global economic growth and the rapid transformation of global demands intogreen energy.

The session also discussed ways to confront various environmental challenges, and the importance of the industrial sector – through advanced technologies – in overcoming these challenges.

As for the participants, the following participated in the session: “Flavia Royon,” the Argentine Deputy Minister of Economy for Energy Affairs, “Amund Vik,” the Norwegian Deputy Minister of Petroleum and Energy, and “Thiago Baral,” the Brazilian Deputy Minister of Mines and Energy for Energy Transition and Planning; The session was moderated by Carlos Pascual, Vice President of Standard & Poor’s Global Energy.البترول

With regard to international efforts, the Minister of Petroleumstressed the importance of concerted efforts and international cooperation; To address the challenges of saving energy resources and sustaining supply, while preserving the environment during the complete energy transition; Pointing to the current cooperation between the petroleum sector and its foreign partners in implementing initiatives, through which it seeks to reduce harmful emissions at various petroleum work sites. This is to preserve the environment, and in compliance with international agreements to confront climate change.

Regarding the importance of strengthening cooperation between governments and the private sector, Engineer Tarek El Molla pointed out the necessity of accelerating the development of natural gas resources, as this is the least harmful fossil fuelemissions. carbon emissions, in parallel with the just energy transition, calling for the production of hydrogen and the provision of special technologies and solutions to reduce emissions at reasonable prices.
