95 million health care for all Egyptians

Human building is an urgent necessity that Egypt is concerned with in all its development endeavors in recent years. One of the most important steps of this construction is to have a society free of diseases, whose members enjoy health and well-being, where medical care - with all its specialties - becomes the most important thing that the state can provide to its citizens, which relieves its burden of those health problems that undermine development efforts and weaken economic growth in one way or another.

Hence the presidential initiative “100 Days of Health” came to work with unparalleled activity to provide health and awareness services. In order for citizens to avoid contracting infectious diseases - non-communicable - as well as hereditary and psychological diseases, all with early detection of infection with such diseases, and providing follow-up and evaluation services in treatment centers and units spread throughout all governorates, and in cooperation with the sectors and institutions concerned.

Between July 31, 2024 - the day on which the Prime Minister launched the second version of the initiative - and September 29, 2024, this presidential initiative has become 60 days old, as it continues its service successes in all health sectors. Therefore, Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, “Deputy Prime Minister and Minister ofHealth and Population” announced the success of the initiative in its second edition in providing 95 million 681 thousand and 641 medical services, and this is within the framework of the President of the Republic’s “Bedaya” initiative under the slogan “A New Beginning for Human Building”.

This Egyptian success was diverse, rich, and included different segments of Egyptian society. According to statements by Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Health and Population, the initiative provided 707,644 services in the basic care and family planning sector, and also provided 389,770 services in the therapeutic care sector, in addition to providing 108,448 services affiliated with the presidential initiatives for public health. The “100 Days of Health” initiative also provided 95,000. And 393 services in the preventive medicine sector, in addition to providing 89,315 services in the hospitals of the Specialized Medical Centers Secretariat.

As for the units affiliated with the General Authority for Hospitals and Educational Institutes, the initiative provided 43,404 services, while in the field of mental health it provided 63,550 services, in addition to the services for hospitals and clinics of the General Authority for Health Insurance, to which the number of services provided reached 239,716 services.

On the other hand, the Ambulance Authority benefited from the “100 Health Days” initiative in its second edition, with 4,926 ambulance services. At the same time, the specialized medical councils issued - within the framework of this initiative - 28,247 treatment decisions at state expense, in addition to performing 2,362 operations that were on waiting lists, with what the initiative provided to the institution’s treatment hospitals, where the number reached Its services are 39 thousand and 441 services.

Within the framework of health education and awareness, the initiative - the 100 Days of Health Initiative - worked to provide its services to 82,469 citizens throughout the republic, through the initiative’s individuals and specialists deployed in public areas and elsewhere. Contributing to raising national awareness of everything related to public health, in addition to holding educational seminars and various awareness-raising activities.

In conclusion, the “100 Days of Health” initiative represents a practical embodiment of the extent of Egypt’s efforts to build Egyptian society on the foundations of equality, justice, and inclusiveness, where all citizens have the right to be healthy. Based on the fact that people are the most important and main focus of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which is what many Egyptian initiatives are working to achieve on the ground, especially this health initiative, which is considered one of the steps of the presidential initiative “Bedaya”.
