Announcing the launch date of the second edition of the Global ConferencePHDC’24 In cooperation with the Bedaya Initiative

In recent years, Egypt has made building the Egyptian human being one of its priorities, and this had to be by closely linking issues of population, health, and human development. A desire for progress and development economically and socially. This is a desire that was greatly reflected in the efforts made by the Egyptian government throughout the process of advancement and construction under the leadership of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.

Among these efforts was the first edition of the World Conference on Population, Health and Human Development, which was held last year, during which Egypt achieved a number of successes and achievements, as the degree of popular awareness of the issues of human development, health and population increased, and this is after awareness campaigns increased among Egyptian citizens. This edition of the conference also succeeded in implementing important initiatives, the most prominent of which is the presidential initiative: The Golden Thousand Days.

Hence, and based on the momentum achieved by the World Conference on Population, Health and Human Development in its first edition, the Ministry of Health and Population announced the launch date of the second edition of the World Conference on Population, Health and Human Development (THE GLOBAL CONGRESS ON POPULATION, HEALTH AND HUMAN DEVELOPMENT), symbolized - in short - by PHDC’24

This conference will be held under the patronage of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, and in cooperation with the national project “A New Beginning for Human Building” and the Ministerial Group for Human Development, headed by Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, “Deputy Prime Minister for Human Development Affairs and Minister of Health and Population.”

This announcement came at a celebration in the New Administrative Capital, where the attendees agreed on the importance of this conference, as it is a confirmation and extension - in addition to the Bedaya initiative - of Egypt’s strategy for human development, and its tireless efforts towards improving population characteristics in line with its vision - Egypt Vision 2030 - and the outcomes of the national dialogue.

In this conference - between October 21 and 25, 2024 - efforts will join forces to strengthen Egypt’s global partnerships in many areas such as health care, education, and decent job opportunities. The conference is expected to be a platform for exchanging ideas and expanding global partnerships, as it forms with the “Bedaya” initiative a strong alliance and a comprehensive approach that combines policy and practical implementation to achieve human development, focusing on national security in its dimensions. Multiple opportunities and building competitive capabilities in global markets.

PHDC'24

PHDC'24 will be a global event that brings together prominent figures from around the world, such as ministers, ambassadors, policy makers, private sector leaders, entrepreneurs, media influencers, as well as civil society organizations at the regional and global levels; In order to discuss the challenges of health, population and human development, under the slogan “Human development: for a sustainable future”.

Based on the above, PHDC'24 will benefit from constructive cooperation between it and the United Nations, in addition to the United States Agency for International Development (USAID); So that everyone contributes to the conference agenda, aiming to address health and population challenges in the context of human development, and to promote an integrated approach to long-term sustainability and investment in human development; For a healthier and more prosperous future.

Scientific Program

The conference will present a comprehensive scientific program over five days, including workshops, interactive sessions, a health worker fellowship programme, in addition to an innovation pavilion, which showcases ideas from civil society and start-ups. If we look at the conference’s objectives, we will find them limited to governance, innovation, health, and individual empowerment. These objectives - in detail - are:

Achieving human prosperity: The conference seeks to advance sustainable growth rates, and pay attention to governance based on the foundations of community participation and fairness in opportunities.

Enhancing innovation: This is a necessary goal; Because a person cannot be built except by developing his abilities and unleashing his creativity. So that he can face a very changing world.

Promoting health, well-being and equity: This includes implementing high-quality health coverage, based on the requirements of social justice and equality.

Applied knowledge: This is knowledge with practical procedures on the ground, as it relies heavily on reliable data. In order to face various challenges.

In this conference, participants look forward to building a strong bridge of global partnerships built on the foundations of sustainability, especially sustainability in the fields of health and human development, all through four axes: She is:

  • Linking health, population and human development.
  • Building resilient health systems.
  • Empowering individuals and communities.
  • Adapting to a changing world.

Expected results

Based on the previously stated themes and objectives, the second edition of the World Conference on Population, Health and Human Development seeks to enhance society’s understanding of the nature and dimensions of the fields of population, health and human development, while highlighting their characteristics at the regional and global levels. The conference will also identify actionable links between these three areas, and expand the scope of practices and experiences associated with them. The conference also aims to strengthen the capabilities of concerned parties to implement human development initiatives, while identifying innovative solutions and technologies in the fields of education, health, and social welfare.

So Earth Guards concludes that the timing of the second edition of PHDC’24  has a crucial role that reflects Egypt’s deep commitment to achieving its development goals, and with this global momentum a question arises about how to transform these major events into tangible results that actually affect people’s lives. Because ambitious strategies - important as they are - require precise monitoring and evaluation mechanisms, as well as a willingness to adjust their course when necessary.

The PHDC'24 conference, on the other hand, is a real opportunity for Egypt to strengthen its regional and international role. To become more sustainable. This is the goal to whichEarth Guards pays close attention, based on its belief that development issues and paths of transformation and advancement in all sectors are the responsibility of civil society alongside the public and private sectors. To createDevelopment a sustainable homeland for us and for future generations.
