Airports constitute one of the main components of the infrastructure that supports travel, tourism and trade. They also represent an essential element in enhancing interconnection between countries and supporting various economic activities. With the continued growth in air trafficglobal traffic, the importance of investing in developing airports and raising their capacity to ensure improved operating efficiency and the quality of services provided to passengers is increasing.

In this context, Egypt continues to implement plans to develop and modernize airports and increase their capacity to accommodate the increasing growth in passenger traffic and flights, thus enhancing the competitiveness of the civil aviation sector and supporting efforts to stimulate tourism.

This was reflected in the positive performance indicators achieved by Egyptian airports, in addition to international praise for their ability to deal with operational variables and accommodate the increasing air traffic in light of the current regional challenges.

Increasing the capacity of Egyptian airports

In this context, the Cabinet Media Center published a number of infographics on its social media platforms, through which it highlighted the importance of increasing airport capacity in supporting the growing demand for air travel and stimulating tourism.

This comes within the framework of the state’s plan to develop Egyptian airports and raise their efficiency, in line with international standards, to enhance the capacity to accommodate the increase in air travel and reduce congestion, in addition to improving the quality of services provided to travelers, in a way that supports the achievement of comprehensive Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially Goal (16) Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions, Goal (8) Decent Work and Economic Growth, and Goal (9) Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure.
