World Water Day celebrated by the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation
In cooperation with “European Union“, “Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation” organized a large celebration on the occasion of “World Water Day“, in the presence of the Minister of Water Resources Al-Ray, Ambassador Alvaro Iranzo, Ambassador of Spain to Egypt, Ambassador Poli Ioannou, Ambassador of Cyprus to Egypt, Ambassador Christian Berger, Ambassador of the European Union to Egypt, Ambassador Ivan Gokke, Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Egypt, and Ambassador Franco Kornet, Ambassador of Belgium to Egypt.
After that, the Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation and the European Union Ambassador held a dialogue session on the sidelines of the celebration of “World Water Day”, in which they discussed the challenges facing water in Egypt, and in which they stressed the importance of community awareness, as a path to rationalizing water consumption, in addition to their review The efforts of the Egyptian state regarding plans to rehabilitate canals, and strategies for transitioning towards modern irrigation systems.
In the same context, the celebration of World Water Day discussed methods of reconsuming and treating water, ways to rehabilitate water facilities, strengthening drinking water and sanitation projects, and implementing projects to adapt to climate change, such as projects to protect against the dangers of floods and protect beaches.
On World Water Day, a number of water ambassadors were honored, who are young people who participated in water competitions organized by the Ministry and the European Union, in addition to holding a workshop for young people on climate change and ways to achieve sustainability in water management, with a number of theatrical performances, which highlighted the importance of water and preserving it by rationalizing its consumption. On the sidelines of the celebration: the opening of the Spring Flowers Exhibition in Al-Qanater Al-Khayriyah, an exhibition organized by the “Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation” in March of each year.
