Egypt Vision 2030

In February 2016, Egypt’s Vision 2030 was launched, which included a wide range of economic, social and environmental goals. To push the industrial, economic, and agricultural sectors – and other sectors – towards mobilizing their efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The vision – Egypt Vision 2030 – is based on basic pillars, such as economic development, social justice, and environmental sustainability. In this way, it is working to diversify its goals, which are to develop the economy, attract foreign direct investment, create job opportunities, improve access to quality education, provide appropriate health care, and strengthen social protection programs for vulnerable groups in society.

This national vision recognizes the importance of sustainable development and environmental preservation, and is based on the concepts of renewable energy sources, recycling, and combating climate change. All of this is in line with global efforts to mitigate the negative effects of climate change.

Partnerships and development dimensions

In order to achieve its goals, Egypt’s Vision 2030 relied on strategic partnerships with international organizations, foreign governments, and the private sector. Its approach was based on four main principles: She is:

Justice and Integration: Egypt’s Vision 2030 seeks to achieve social, economic, and political justice for all, without discrimination on the basis of gender, religion, race, or any other consideration.

Knowledge and Innovation: Egypt’s Vision 2030 focuses on building a society with characteristics based on innovation and knowledge approaches, where citizens are able to access education that crystallizes the energies of children and youth, while encouraging them to scientific research and development.

Strong Economy: Egypt’s Vision 2030 seeks to build a strong and sustainable economy, capable of providing job opportunities; In order to increase the productivity of the Egyptian economy in the local and global markets.

Environmental Sustainability: Among the goals of Egypt’s Vision 2030 is to protect the environment and ensure its sustainability for current and future generations; Therefore, in line with this vision, the government launched the “Environmental Sustainability Standards Guide: Strategic Framework for Green Recovery.”

Governance: Since Egypt – and the whole world – faces severe climate impacts, it has emphasized in its vision – Egypt Vision 2030 – the importance and necessity of an integrated and sustainable ecosystem; Therefore, it worked on the governance of state institutions and society through administrative reform, consolidating transparency, supporting monitoring and evaluation systems, and empowering local administrations.

Human Development: Human development indicators in Egypt have improved – significantly – in the past years, and this is one of the results of Egypt’s Vision 2030; Because it is a vision that seeks – realistically – to improve the quality of life of the Egyptian citizen, provide an integrated system for social protection, provide education and ensure its quality and the quality of health services, provide basic services, improve infrastructure, and controlpopulation growth.

Challenges and Solutions

Achieving Egypt’s Vision 2030 requires making more efforts in the coming years, as there are still major challenges facing Egypt, especially climate change that may burn everything green. The challenges facing Egypt’s Vision 2030 can be overcome by taking a number of measures: The most important of which is implementing economic reforms, in order to achieve sustainable economic growth, and focusing on human development, which is what Egypt’s Vision 2030 values – as we mentioned before – through investing in education and building the Egyptian human being in general.

In conclusion, Egypt is sparing no effort to enhance the life of the Egyptian citizen – which the Earth Guards see as an essential pillar of Egypt’s Vision 2030 – and therefore it is trying to achieve more successes in this regard by strengthening development partnerships and motivating the private sector to participate in development strategies. So that we can achieve more Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which will reflect on Egypt’s economy and society.
