A new beginning for human building: Egypt’s steps to achieve human development
In recent years, Egypt has focused – more than before – on strengthening everything that can build the Egyptian citizen, especially after the President of the Republic assumed his duties, and this is within the axes of the sustainable national project for human development; Desiring to build an advanced and integrated society, through intensifying the work of government agencies and other bodies concerned with development; Improving human development indicators and restoring the true Egyptian character.
This national project stems from the fact that the Egyptian person is an important element in building and greening the future on sustainable foundations, and this can only be done by working to spread health, cultural and social awareness among all citizens of different ages, then enhancing their skills that help them compete in the labor market, which will reflect – positively – on the Egyptian economy. These are necessary steps towards achieving comprehensive sustainability in all fields and at all levels. Therefore, there was an urgent need to launch an initiative that would deepen the dimensions of this national project and mobilize the efforts of the people of the country to support the steps of present and future development. Hence, “a new beginning for building humanity.”
A new beginning for building humanity
There – in the platform area of People’s Square in the New Administrative Capital – Egypt was on a date with the launch of this promising initiative, as Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, “Prime Minister,” witnessed its first activities on September 17 of this year, and this was under the patronage of Mr. President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, and in the presence of Lieutenant General Eng. Kamel Al-Wazir, “Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport,” in addition to a large number of ministers, members of the House of Representatives, and some ambassadors of countries in Cairo, and a number of prominent figures and media figures.
This initiative – the President of the Republic’s “Bedaya” initiative – seeks to build the Egyptian human being according to sub-programs directed at Egyptians of all ages. Among these programs is what is related to the care of newborn children up to the age of 6 years, which is the program that was discussed by the Earth Guards ina previous article, and it includes attention to early childhood in terms of physical, mental, psychological and health upbringing, establishing nurseries and kindergartens, and building cadres of workers in this vital field.
There is also a program dedicated to age groups from 6 to 18 years old, and aims to enhance the sports, health, educational and training programs they need. Until their skills improve and they become ready for the labor market. In addition to other programs related to adults – from the age of 18 to 65 years and above – which include training programs to raise their rehabilitation capabilities.
Objectives of the Bedaya Initiative
From the above it appears that the Bedaya initiative is a bright spot and a broad step towards achieving the goals of human development andsustainable development in its broad sense, whether at the health, cultural or social levels, relying on the principle of social justice and comprehensive protection policies.
So, it is an initiative that invests all its efforts in human capital, with what we mentioned a little while ago among the axes of this initiative, whose efforts are focused on health, education, sports, culture, and other fields. Its detailed goals are working to achieve “Egypt Vision 2030” and working to implement the social development program in the fields of public health and sports.
Other detailed goals include providing job opportunities in cooperation between state agencies and civil society, improving the quality of life in all governorates, implementing development activities for all age groups, achieving justice in the distribution of basic services, preserving resources, developing human competencies and government services, strengthening the role of the private and public sectors and civil society, and producing creative and innovative generations capable of advancing their country; This is in accordance with the concepts of sustainability and the concepts of green transformation.
The axes and stages of the initiative
The Bedaya initiative – in more detail – is based on three axes: The first is the education axis, the second is the health axis, and the last is the employment axis. The first includes developing educational curricula and providing advanced training programs that help develop learners’ skills. To keep pace with the era of technological transformations. The second axis works to improve health services provided to citizens. To achieve this, the initiative will use awareness campaigns, health programs, and treatment convoys covering all parts of the republic. The last axis aims to create decent job opportunities, capable of meeting the requirements of the green transformation in all sectors, and in a manner commensurate with the needs of the labor market.
The initiative has the beginning of two main phases: They are: the stage of shedding light on educational, cultural, sports and social services, while valuing the goals of “Egypt Vision 2030” achieved so far. Then comes the stage of the “National Project for Human Development,” which addresses all citizens of all ages in all governorates of the Republic.
Initiative Services
In addition to the previously stated interim objectives, the initiative is primarily based on providing many development services, and includes many sectors in accordance with standards of justice and comprehensiveness, and in a way that ensures the achievement of the comprehensive sustainable vision. These services include:
Providing services to all governorates: Services are no longer limited to the Cairo Governorate, as the Bedaya Initiative is working to provide all services to the rest of the governorates of the Republic. Lifting the economic and social burden on citizens.
Sustainable media platform: It is a platform that searches for ways of sustainable human development, and in which support is provided to Egyptians through government figures including ministers, economic experts, entrepreneurs, clerics, and symbols of art, culture, and sports.
Medical Services: In this initiative, 5,600 medical and treatment convoys will operate, with further efforts being made to reduce the number of waiting lists for medical operations. The initiative will also provide 1.2 million chemotherapy and radiation therapy sessions, and other related health services; These services include young and old people. So that we can guarantee them a decent life.
Support for small projects: In cooperation with the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency, the initiative – the Bedaya Initiative – will work to provide appropriate financing for various projects according to easy terms and appropriate interest, while contributing to extracting project documents related to the commercial registry, tax card and operating licenses, with simplified procedures and reduced fees.
Educational Services: The initiative will work to increase the number of kindergarten schools in all governorates of the Republic, as well as holding awareness and educational seminars in cooperation between them and the relevant ministries, and other educational and cultural activities that are in the interest of human development.
All of the above Egyptian goals, services and efforts confirm that the initiative works to achieve “Egypt Vision 2030”, the most important features of which and its most prominent goals are reflected in improving the lives of citizens in all governorates, with an interest in developing government services and enhancing the role of the private sector. To achieve all the goals of the Bedaya Initiative.
From all of this, Earth Guards conclude that this initiative has a pioneering role in bringing about sustainable transformation at all levels, in line with the axes of “Egypt Vision 2030,” and in conjunction with the regional and global movement to achieve comprehensive Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), as an important step in the process of building the Egyptian future.
