Egypt reviews developments in the Egyptian nuclear project

During the speech, the Minister also reviewed the latest developments witnessed by the peaceful Egyptian nuclear project to generate electricity through the Dabaa station, as it is considered an important step to achieve sustainable development and localize modern technology. He pointed to the progress in implementing the project, as the project witnessed qualitative progress in November 2025 with the installation of the reactor pressure vessel for the first unit with the participation of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and the Russian President.Vladimir Putin via video conference technology and signing the order to purchase nuclear fuel.

Also, during the year 2026, the manufacture of major nuclear equipment for the first unit was completed, including turbines, pressure stabilizers, and steam generators. Confirming non-proliferation and protection of nuclear facilities

At the end of its speech, Egypt stressed the importance of the pivotal role of the International Atomic Energy Agency as the body concerned with nuclear verification and following up on the implementation of the Comprehensive Safeguards Agreement, calling for intensifying efforts to achieve the universality of the agreement. In this context, it announced its intention to put forward a draft resolution on the application of the Agency’s safeguards in the Middle East, as a step towards establishing a nuclear-weapon-free zone, which contributes to dealing with risks.And the security threats facing the region.

Egypt also stressed its position rejecting any attack targeting nuclear facilities subject to Agency guarantees and designated for peaceful purposes, stressing that targeting them constitutes a violation of international law and the United Nations Charter, and undermines the nuclear non-proliferation system.
