This trend comes in light of a growing realization that developing health systems is no longer separate from cooperation strategies. International.
Strategic cooperation programs to support sustainability
In this context, Dr. Ahmed Taha, President of the General Authority for Health Accreditation and Regulatory (GAHAR), received a high-level delegation from the French Agency for International Technical Expertise (Expertise France) and the French Agency for Development (AFD), as part of a series of ongoing coordination meetings that pave the way for the implementation of strategic cooperation programs aimed at supporting the sustainability of quality health care in Egypt.
The two parties were keen to exchange visions and hold extensive discussions between the General Authority for Health Accreditation and Control and the French side, with the aim of strengthening partnerships and setting outlines for future cooperation paths, which supports the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) concerned with achieving peace, justice and strong institutions, in addition to establishing partnerships to achieve the goals.
During the meeting, the head of the authority confirmed that the Egyptian state had succeeded in establishing a modern health system based on precise standards and a clear vision, noting that the comprehensive health insurance system represents a qualitative transformation in the management and provision of health services, as quality has become an essential pillar for ensuring the efficiency and sustainability of services, in accordance with Goal (3) good health and well-being.

Strengthening international partnerships to support the health system
Dr. Ahmed Taha explained that the Authority is keen to strengthen the Egyptian-French partnership and benefit from technical expertise, which contributes to preparing qualified cadres to apply quality standards in the health sector, and to support the continuity of institutional development of the comprehensive health insurance system, especially in light of the increasing challenges that require health systems that are more flexible and efficient in response.
The head of the authority added that the existing cooperation with the French side is witnessing remarkable development towards building an international partnership model that supports the sustainability of the Egyptian health system and enhances its ability to adapt to future challenges, most notably climate change and shifts in patterns of health care provision, which reflects the importance of strengthening partnerships in achieving development.
Expanding areas of joint cooperation
For their part, the delegation of Expertise France and (Agence Française de Développement – AFD) expressed their appreciation for the remarkable progress witnessed by the health sector in Egypt, praising GAHAR’s experience in developing quality systems, and affirming their commitment to supporting this path by expanding areas of joint cooperation, implementing technical support, implementing specialized training programs, and exchanging institutional expertise in the field of quality and accreditation of health facilities.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the two parties agreed to continue coordination during the next phase to advance joint work paths, through a package of executive measures that focus on capacity building and technical support, ensuring a positive and sustainable impact on the level of health services provided to citizens.
