Under the slogan “Patient Safety from the Beginning,” the conference launched by the General Authority for Health Accreditation and Supervision, headed by Dr. Ahmed Taha, “President of the Authority,” came within the framework of celebrating World Patient Safety Day 2025, under the patronage of Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, “Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population,” and with the participation of representatives of the World Health Organization.

The conference included extensive discussion sessions, which addressed the safety of newborns outside health care, and the Authority’s role in protecting them, in addition to the “From Policy to Implementation” axis, which focused on linking medical incident reports to health policies, thus contributing to enhancing the quality of care and reducing medical risks.

Expansion of hospital construction

In his speech, Dr. Ahmed Taha, “President of the General Authority for Health Accreditation and Control,” stressed thatPatient safetyis the true criterion for the success of any health system, explaining that expanding the establishment of hospitals or increasing spending is not enough to achieve excellence, if services are not designed to protect the patient from any harm while receiving treatment.

Dr. Ahmed Taha indicated that the authority is moving with a clear plan to establish an institutional culture that places the patient at the heart of the development process, by applying internationally approved quality standards and rationalizing spending, while maintaining the highest levels of medical safety.

He also added that this year’s celebration sends an important humanitarian message; According to him, safe care begins from the moment of birth, by providing a healthy environment that preserves the child’s life and gives him the elements for healthy growth, considering that the safety of the newborn is the true beginning of building a strong society and a prosperous nation.

Rais Jahar then stressed that the responsibility for protecting the patient is shared between all elements of the health system, starting from service providers, through supply chains, all the way to decision makers and policy makers. The Minister of Health and Population also indicated that these efforts come in implementation of the directives of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, who made citizen health a national priority, considering the World Health Organization’s recognition of Egypt’s experience a responsibility that motivates everyone to continue working. Enhancing the quality of medical services

On the sidelines of the “Patient Safety from the Beginning” conference launched by the General Authority for Health Accreditation and Control, a cooperation protocol was signed between the General Authority for Health Accreditation and Control and the Ministry of Health and Population, which was signed by Dr. Ahmed Taha on behalf of the authority, and on behalf of the Ministry by Dr. Mohamed Hassani, “Assistant Minister of Health for Public Health Projects and Initiatives.”
