As for the heroine of this article, she is Professor Nermin Shehab El-Din, “Head of Community Development atNational Bank of Egypt”, and before that she was head of marketing at the bank, then deputy general director of the office of the chairman of the bank’s board of directors, in addition to the fact that in 2000 she was executive director of the office of the deputy governor of the Central Bank of Egypt, and she was also an assistant. Executive Chairman of the American Chamber of Commerce in Egypt.

In these leadership banking positions, Professor Nermin Shehab El-Din played a prominent role in establishing the principles of sustainable development and promoting the culture of sustainability in the projects of the National Bank of Egypt, in addition to supporting the environment and its resources, and combating climate change.

With this development and environmental process, she became a member of many councils and institutions that seek to achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). She is a member of the Sustainable Development Committee of the Egyptian Banks Union, a member of the Board of Trustees of the Egyptian Stock Exchange Foundation for Sustainable Development, and a member of the Environment Council at Helwan University.

These development efforts came in line with Egypt’s move towards a green economy, and these efforts were also reflected in the form of numbers showing the extent of the effort exerted by Ms. Nermin Shehab El-Din, as she succeeded in managing the donation portfolio since she assumed responsibility for community development at the National Bank of Egypt. These are the donations that amounted to 121 million Egyptian pounds in 2012, until this amount became more than 8 billion Egyptian pounds.

As for her academic career, which was a path towards sustainable successes and achievements, it was through a degree in international marketing from the French International University “INSEAD” for Business Administration, then planning and management of public relations from the “Informa Middle East” Foundation in Dubai.

This is how Professor Nermin Shehab El-Din became an expert in the banking sector for more than 20 years, until she was able to design and implement several programs, to take advantage of Egyptians’ interest in social media and online activities.

Not only that, but Professor Nermin Shehab El-Din had other efforts in encouraging customers to join the banking system and building the customer base of the National Bank of Egypt. These are the efforts that shaped the bank’s image within the Egyptian economic system, in line with national strategies.

In addition to the sustainable process and efficiency in managing banks’ resources, Ms. Nermin Shehab El-Din has great experience in organizing advanced marketing and advertising campaigns. To keep pace with the age of technology, it also succeeded in launching several advertising campaigns, the most famous of which is: “Stay safe on your money.” Helping to encourage customers to join the banking system from the standpoint of financial inclusion, as well as the campaign: “Your place is not here”; To support small and medium enterprises.

Therefore, she was a member of the committee formed by the Central Bank to conduct marketing research and advertising campaigns, to encourage Egyptians abroad to transfer their savings, through the “Money Transfer – Remittance campaign” campaign. Then she was a member of the evaluations committee of the Central Bank of Egypt, which selected the best innovative ideas for the advertising campaign for the “Meeza” card; In fulfillment of the state’s strategic direction in shifting towards a society less dependent on cash.

Professor Nermin Shehab El-Din’s achievements have been in many fields, at the national and international levels, to make her an outstanding performer in the Egyptian banking sector. She has enhanced this performance with many skills that include many specializations, and she is also a permanent participant in many scientific conferences and workshops in Egypt, the Arab world, Europe and Asia.

For this professional and scientific career, she was honored by many entities, and she won many awards that reflect the extent of her interest in developing the banking sector in accordance with sustainable development strategies, including – for example – the Golden Shield of Excellence in Social Responsibility from the Arab Women’s Council. Today, she is honored byEarth Guards Magazine on International Women’s Day. She is the perfect role model and role model for all women in the world.
