Sustainable Egyptian participation in the World Cup in Qatar 2022
Perhaps Egypt’s loss to the Senegal national team in the final stage of the qualifiers for the World CupQatar 2022, represented a shock to all Egyptians, especially football fans and followers, and even those who were not interested, after the Egyptians pinned their hopes on participating in this international football festival after the disappointing participation in the “Russia 2018” World Cup, and Egypt’s exit from the first round without achieving any victory, but what if we told you that Egypt participated in World Cup competitions in Qatar?
Creative design and innovative technologies
The World Cup ball, which comes under the name “The Journey,” was designed by the German company Adidas through a partnership with the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA). The design is inspired by heritage, culture, and the Qatari flag as the organizing country. The name is also Arabic, in reference to the Arab region hosting World Cup competitions for the first time since the tournament was first launched in 1930.
The terrible technical development has cast a shadow even on ball games; “The Journey” is distinguished by the presence of a group of electronic sensors integrated into it, in order to send “500 signals” every second to each of the cameras in the stadium, in addition to the video arbitration room, which is known for short as “VAR”, which greatly helps in detecting offside with extreme accuracy.

Sustainable participation with Egyptian hands
The smart ball does not only represent a big leap on the technical level, but rather represents an example of placing sustainability as one of the basic considerations in the design and manufacture of everything, asThe Journey – unlike all previous World Cup balls – was manufactured for the first time from water-based inks and adhesives, which means that it is an environmentally friendly ball, which encouraged the International Football Association to praise the design of the ball by saying: “The Journey” is the most environmentally friendly ball in the history of the game.
Perhaps the “trip” compensated for the sadness that dominated the game’s fans in our beloved country, as “1,500 balls out of 6,000” designated for the World Cup were manufactured in Egypt, in the factory affiliated with the “Forwardsport” company approved by the German company (Adidas) to manufacture footballs, so that this represents a sustainable Egyptian participation not only in the World Cup competitions in Qatar, but also In the upcoming world championships.
