Within the efforts of the Ministry of Social Solidarity to expand the umbrella of social protection and improve the quality of life for citizens; Dr. Maya Morsi, “Minister of Social Solidarity,” – during her visit to Luxor Governorate – signed a memorandum of understanding with the Shefaa El Orman Foundation. With the aim of enhancing cooperation in providing medical and therapeutic services to the most vulnerable groups in Upper Egypt.
The agreement includes supporting efforts to develop Shifa Al-Orman Hospital for the treatment ofcancer, and expanding the scope of free services provided to patients, all within the framework of integration between state institutions and civil society to achieve health justice.

Inspection of Shifa Al-Orman Hospital
After the signing, the Minister inspected the hospital’s various departments, viewed the modern medical equipment used in treatment, and praised the role of Shifa Al-Orman Hospital in providing integrated treatment services, free of charge, to thousands of patients from the governorates of Upper Egypt.

There, Dr. Maya Morsi confirmed that the hospital represents a role model in partnership between the state and civil society, and contributes to achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially with regard to providing comprehensive health care and reducing poverty related to treatment costs.
Luxor National University
In the context of the visit, Dr. Maya Morsi went to Luxor National University, where she inspected a number of educational and service facilities, and praised the development the university is witnessing in infrastructure and new academic specializations that meet the needs of the labor market.

Scholarships and youth support initiatives
The Minister also discussed, during her visit to Luxor National University, joint cooperation programs in the areas of community development, as she confirmed the Ministry’s continued provision of scholarships to children of families benefiting from the “Solidarity and Dignity” programs. Believing in the importance of investing in education as one of the most important tools for getting out of poverty.

Then Dr. Maya Morsi indicated that the Ministry of Social Solidarity is working to link education to the labor market, through vocational training and entrepreneurship programs for youth; As a contribution from the Ministry to creating real job opportunities and achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Upper Egypt.
