What is Fustat Hills Park?

Fustat Hills Park is one of the largest green projects in Cairo. It extends over an area of 500 acres in the heart of the historic capital, in order to develop the cultural aspect of this area, and transform it into an integrated tourist, cultural and environmental destination, linking the “National Museum of Egyptian Civilization”, “Ain Al-Sira Lake”, “The Religious Complex” and “Amr Ibn Al-Aas Mosque”.

The Prime Minister said: “The Fustat Hills Park is a sustainable urban development and a cultural project to revive one of the oldest historical areas in Cairo, which originally included unsafe areas,” adding that the project aims to redefine the relationship between humans, the environment and heritage, within the framework of an urban philosophy inspired by the spirit of ancient Egyptian civilization.

Dr. Mustafa Madbouly explained that the park is part of the general plan to revitalize Greater Cairo, stressing that the Egyptian state was keen to ensure that the character of the buildings in Fustat was inspired by the character of Egyptian civilization, in a combination that combines authenticity and renewal, and at the same time preserves the visual identity of the old city.

Sustainable development in a civilized spirit

The Prime Minister also indicated that the cost of implementing this great civilizational work exceeded 10 billion pounds, pointing out that the project reflects the state’s orientation towards sustainable development, by transforming slum areas into open green spaces. He also added that the completion of various works in Fustat Park will take place during the next few weeks, coinciding with the completion of works onthe opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum, which constitutes an integrated panel of urban, cultural and environmental renaissance at the same time.

The Prime Minister stressed that the revival of Old Cairo is taking place in accordance with presidential directives, while preserving the architectural and historical heritage that characterizes the capital, stressing that building the new administrative capital does not mean abandoning the old capital, but on the contrary; Because it enhances the state’s efforts to preserve heritage and restore Cairo to its splendor that befits its ancient history.
