Among these institutions were:Vodafone and CEMEX Cement, which are the two institutions that have sought over the past years to harmonize their investment objectives with Egypt’s vision of transitioning to a healthy and sustainable society. This effort would not have existed without the directors of the sustainability departments in these two institutions – and other pioneering institutions – who happened to be honorable Egyptian women.

Hence, today we are talking about Egyptian women who were able to lead their institutions – through their sustainable positions – in the field of sustainability and environmental preservation. In this way, they will achieve a social position for their institutions, and highlight an honorable image of the women of Egypt –Women of Sustainability– who were able to crystallize community work in many sectors with unparalleled efficiency.

It is worth noting that thisfirst ceremonywas attended byMinister of Social Solidarity – Dr. Nevin Al-Qabbaj – and Counselor Ahmed Saad Al-Din “First Undersecretary of the House of Representatives”, and a number of Representatives of the Council, heads of its subcommittees, and an elite group of artists, media professionals, and men and women of society.

There, Dr. Reham Farouk “Chairman of the Magazine’s Board of Directors” received the women of sustainability with a warm welcome and a warm welcome, headed by: Dr. Nevin Al-Kabbaj, and each of: May Yassin, Zainab Hegazy, Ghada Hamouda, Enas Qadri, Maha Hasibo, Bossi Al-Assal, and Nour. Al-Zaini.

Therefore, she saw in “Earth Guards” magazine a great opportunity to enhance awareness of development and environmental issues, so the Ministry of Social Solidarity’s sponsorship of the “Earth Guards Shield” competition was a moral sponsorship, considering that this shield is a step towards achieving “Egypt Vision 2030”.

And about ProfessorMay Yassin, who received the “Earth Guards Shield” with a smiling face and a spirit looking forward to a bright Egyptian tomorrow, as she is “Secretary General of the Vodafone Egypt Foundation for Community Development, and Head of the Sustainability Business Department at Vodafone Egypt”, who In her speech, she expressed Vodafone’s happiness with this honor. Because the “Earth Guards Shield” is the highest honor bestowed by the magazine on institutions that effectively apply sustainability and environmental preservation methods in their activities.

She is the woman who very sincerely confirmed Vodafone’s view of sustainability strategies, as she helped Yassin implement Vodafone projects in Egyptian society, through pioneering digital programs, paying attention to the most needy groups, by making educational technology available, and implementing youth and women’s empowerment initiatives; Therefore, Mai Yassin deserves to be a woman of sustainability. It is worth noting that, throughout her career, she has won many awards and honors, including: the “Tanmia” Award, the “Women in Corporate Social Responsibility” Award, as well as the “CSR Impact Creators” Award from Galala University in Egypt (led by the Egyptian government); To support various initiatives in corporate social responsibility.

As for Professor /Zainab Hegazy, she is the “Director of Communications, Public Affairs and Sustainability at CEMEX Cement.” She is the woman who leads initiatives that have a clear impact on CEMEX’s business from a societal perspective – including the “Very Nile” initiative that worked to clean the Nile River – in addition to her participation in the British CIPD, which is concerned with human resources, and is a founding member. In the Human Resources Association, and a founding member of the Egyptian-Mexican Business Council.

This woman is an honorable model who has added to the women of Egypt a great balance of achievements, and these achievements are not only at the local level, but at the African level as well, as Hegazy became one of the most influential African women in the construction industry between the years: 2018 – 2019, and this was by “CEO Global”, in addition to being chosen as one of the 30 best women working in the cement industry. Then comes the woman who was chosen among the 50 most influential women in Egypt. She is the “Head of the Sustainability and Marketing Sector at the Qalaa Group”, ProfessorGhada Hamouda, who has had prominent work in many fields locally and internationally, including: her long experience – in addition to her achievements in the field of sustainability – in the field of strategic planning, corporate reputation management, knowledge of responsible investment issues, and Crises.

Hammouda played a major role in implementing the strategic transformation plan pursued by the Qalaa Group. Rather, she was able to achieve sustainability goals and develop strategies related to these goals, in addition to her efficiency in expanding the group’s operations in the African market, by paying attention to a number of programs: waste recycling – river transport projects – developing social development programs.

Among the women of sustainability who attended the first ceremony of the “Earth Defenders Shield” was Professor/Enas Qadri “Head of the Communications and Sustainability Sector at Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank,” and she has more than twenty years of banking experience, where she clearly contributed to establishing important sectors in Egyptian and international institutions.

Throughout her sustainability work in local and international banks, Kadri has been able to establish many brands, and she also issued the first Egyptian sustainability report in 2020. Thus, making her the most influential Egyptian woman in achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Another honorable model is Professor /Maha Hasibo “Member of the Sustainable Finance Committee of the Egyptian Banks Federation,” a pioneering woman in the field of sustainable finance and environmental and social governance, and she has long experience in practicing sustainability and leadership in the Egyptian banking sector.

Throughout her long journey of achievements, Hasibo has created a record of sustainability work, social responsibility, and risk assessment and treatment in many sectors. Therefore, she has become a pioneer in the field of building relevant strategies, and in addition to all of that, she is an expert in simplifying sustainability terms, and translating them through simple, effective plans and communication channels.

And also,Bossi Al-Assal “Senior Director of Partnerships at the United Nations Global Compact Network – Egypt”, one of the women of sustainability, who has created a biography full of achievements in many sectors, including: sustainable development – internal and external communications – corporate social responsibility – public affairs – marketing.

She is the woman who developed and implemented social media strategies in Britain, and also supported the pilot project for the technical education process, and other sectors locally and globally. To lead development and sustainable operations in many companies. Thus becoming one of the women of sustainability.

In conclusion, we have with us one of the Egyptian women who developed programs related to sustainable development. She is ProfessorNour El-Zeini “Senior Director of Corporate Communications and Corporate Social Responsibility at Suez Canal Bank.” She is a woman who has held key positions in a number of multinational companies, in Canada and Egypt: such as Regional Communications Director at Arab Radio and Television (ART), in addition to her experience in the fields of marketing and financial consulting in Canadian financial consulting companies.

Al-Zeini encouraged young people and women in various sectors, by providing volunteer workshops. To enhance entrepreneurship and leadership skills, and during the Corona virus pandemic, it provided 15 volunteer sessions for more than 20,000 young people and professionals; To support them in aspects of their business; In all of this, she will be one of the most influential women of sustainability in the field of supporting Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
